Actual Fairytale – Picking up a Mermaid! (14)

Lu Shijin rented a place to disguise as a clinic, waiting for the big fish to take bait.

The next day, Shen Shao met Jun Yu at the ‘clinic’ and saw Jun Yu, who was dressed in a long white coat.

Jun Yu had a cold expression and when he put his hands in his pockets, his demeanor instantly became a lot more powerful and charismatic.

To be honest, he did look legitimate.

Since there were very few people who actually practiced Chinese medicine in this age, their practices had been virtually lost. This meant that Shen Shao had limited knowledge in this field.

He just knew that Chinese medicine was based on questionable assumptions, and that they used Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and other strange methods.

It was not scientific and very vague. But he had to admit that before modern medicine had become more sophisticated, Chinese medicine was an important part of treatment.

Jun Yu said some obscure words according to what Lu Shijin had told him. From Shen Shao’s expression, it was clear that he didn’t understand a single thing.

“Master Yu, do you think I can be cured with this method?” Shen Shao ran out of patience and interrupted Jun Yu.

Jun Yu pretended to be high and mighty. “I must diagnose you to determine that. Let me take your pulse.”

Shen Shao extended his hand with suspicion. Jun Yu put two fingers on Shen Shao’s pulse and closed his eyes. His expression instantly calmed.

Lu Shijin saw everything from his monitor. He really felt that Jun Yu’s acting skills were good enough to seem like a real, traditional, Chinese medicine master if he just stuck on a beard.

Clearly, this task-taker liked acting too.

“Ah, I understand your disease now.” Jun Yu took back his hand and said, “Your meridians have been inflicted with evil qi, causing your blood flow to be irregular. Do you often dream and sweat at night? Cold feet and hands? Weakness throughout your body?”

Hearing that all of Jun Yu’s points were accurate, Shen Shao’s originally skeptical expression became one of respect.

“Yes, you’re too great, being able to get everything from my pulse.”

Jun Yu smiled lightly and said, “That’s too much, this is just basic skill, not worth mentioning.

Jun Yu’s humbleness made Shen Shao’s impression of him even better, trusting him more.

He asked hesitantly, “Then, master Yu, do you think I can be cured?”

“Your disease can’t be cured instantly, it requires a process. Other than herbal medicine, you also need acupuncture to facilitate your meridians.” Jun Yu pointed to the side, “Here, there’s a bed here, you should take off your top and lie on it. I’ll perform acupuncture on you, if you think that there’s a positive improvement, then we’ll continue with my plan, how about it?”

Shen Shao wanted to see if Chinese medicine was really that magical, and he wasn’t risking anything like this. If there weren’t any effects, he could just not come back.

Shen Shao nodded, “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”

“Drink a glass of water first.” Shen Shao was just about to follow Jun Yu’s instructions when he suddenly brought a glass of water over. Shen Shao was confused. “Why do I need to drink?”

“You might sweat during acupuncture, so you should drink first to replenish your body’s water.” Jun Yu explained seriously.

Shen Shao didn’t doubt him and gulped the glass down, unaware of the glint in Jun Yu’s eyes.

“You should lie down and rest first, I’ll get my assistant to prepare the materials needed.” Jun Yu said as he left the room.

Shen Shao laid down for a while and suddenly felt his eyelids droop, drowsiness rising as he fell asleep.

Having been observing them, Lu Shijin made sure that Shen Shao was fully asleep before he and Jun Yu reentered the room.

Jun Yu wasn’t some real master, so he obviously didn’t know how to perform acupuncture, so they decided to first knock him out and tell him that the process was over afterwards.

“This wouldn’t be enough to fool Shen Shao. He’s an actual doctor, and knows far more about this than us.” Lu Shijin stroked his chin, contemplating what to do with Shen Shao. “We need there to be some sort of result for him to believe us.”

Jun Yu expressed his agreement, “Then what do you propose?”

Lu Shijin frowned, and suddenly had a great idea, turning to face Jun Yu.

“Doesn’t your merpeople blood cure him? Why don’t we try feeding him some of your blood? We just have to make him believe that it works, not actually cure him.”

Jun Yu thought about it. Although Lu Shijin’s words didn’t make that much logical sense, there really wasn’t any other way currently.

Jun Yu nodded. “Okay, let’s try that.”

Lu Shijin didn’t waste any time and took a cup, passing a needle to Jun Yu for him to pierce his finger with.

Jun Yu took the needle and aimed it at his finger. It wobbled on top of his skin, but didn’t end up going into flesh.

Lu Shijin frowned at this, asking Jun Li with disbelief, “No way, the high and mighty merpeople’s king is scared of pain?”

Jun Yu’s expression darkened, “How could I, you just don’t know how precious this blood is, I’m unwilling.”

Lu Shijin: . . .

If they kept dragging this on, Shen Shao was going to wake up.

Since Jun Yu couldn’t do it to himself, Lu Shijin directly took the needle from him and cleanly pierced it into Jun Yu’s finger. With a suppressed groan from Jun Yu, blood started flowing.

Surprisingly, his blood was silver.

Jun Yu’s forehead was tightly tensed, like he was under immense pain.

Lu Shijin took fortune in his misery, “Stop acting, how could this tiny hole be that painful?”

Jun Yu glanced at him. “We live in the ocean, and our senses are much more sensitive than yours.”

Lu Shijin paused in squeezing out blood. If Jun Yu’s pain sensitivity was a lot higher, then it would be very painful.

Seeing that he had almost half a cup, Lu Shijin stopped, gently wiping at the bleeding part, and even blew on it.

“Sorry, I didn’t know you guys were so sensitive. I’ll help you blow on it, blow the pain away.” Lu Shijin seriously blew on it, but Jun Yu quickly withdrew his hand like he had been burnt, snorting and turning away. “Childish.”

Lu Shijin rolled his eyes. Tsk, a white-eyed wolf, not knowing when people treat him nicely.

Lu Shijin fed the precious bit of blood to Shen Shao. Seeing that he was about to wake up, Lu Shijin left the room.
