Actual Fairytale – Picking up a Mermaid! (27)
His own task was just to complete the story and make the audience satisfied, while Jun Yu’s task was some weird thing that required him to forcibly get his love.
But since he knew what his task was, it would be easy to do it.
So Shen Shao and Jun Li’s situation was more important.
Lu Shijin told 711 to show him what was going on. Jun Li was already at Shen Shao’s place.
It was the middle of the night and raining lightly. Shen Shao was in a deep sleep in his room.
He had been depending on alcohol to numb his brain enough to fall asleep.
But once it wore off, he would be woken by nightmares and unable to sleep for the rest of the night.
Just as he was stuck in a nightmare, his whole body frozen in fear, he suddenly heard a beautiful melody.
Filled with resentment and admiration.
His dream suddenly changed. Shen Shao found himself on a small boat in the ocean and he rowed towards the sound of the song.
Until the song became louder and louder and Shen Shao finally saw who was singing.
It was a merperson. He was leaning against a rock, his beautiful tail casually slapping against the waves. His long hair framed his torso.
Shen Shao approached and the merperson showed a breathtaking smile.
“You’re finally here.” The merperson said.
Shen Shao realized that he had been in the ocean to look for him, so he rowed even harder towards the merperson.
But he didn’t notice the reef under him and knocked into something that pierced the bottom of the boat. Cold seawater quickly flooded him and the boat began sinking.
The water didn’t even go past Shen Shao’s head before he started struggling for help, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t say anything.
The merperson wasn’t far away, but he didn’t seem to have any intention of helping Shen Shao. His beautiful face showed derision, and his voice was filled with hate.
“Go die, you bastard.”
The realness of the dream woke Shen Shao and he suddenly opened his eyes, breathing heavily. He felt like he heard the melody from his dream through the pitter patter of the rain, and felt his heartbeat quicken.
Shen Shao jumped off the bed to open his window.
His room was directly facing the outdoor swimming pool. It was very dark outside, and the rain obscured his vision even more, so all he could see was that something was moving in the pool.
Shen Shao thought of a possibility and felt his heart shake. He didn’t even bother with shoes and he rushed outside.
The first thing he saw was a large, navy, tail. It seemed to blend in with the dark sky, and didn’t reflect light, unlike the water.
The tail was playing in the water, while the merperson’s body was hidden beneath the water.
Shen Shao didn’t even think before he yelled, “Jun Li? Is it you? Are you back?”
The tail suddenly slammed against the water surface and Jun Li brought himself up on the other side of the pool, meeting Shen Shao’s gaze from across the pool.
Shen Shao wiped away the rain on his face to see Jun Li more clearly.
When he saw his appearance, he was stunned. Although it was clearly Jun Li, his appearance was very different from his dream.
Jun Li still had short hair like a male, and his features became more heroic, his arms long and muscular. His torso also had compact abs.
He didn’t have long hair or a curvy body.
Shen Shao was confused, did Jun Li differentiate? Why didn’t he seem like a female merperson?
“Mr. Shen, it’s been a long time.” Jun Li’s voice lost its immaturity and was low and magnetic. He greeted Shen Shao with a smile, but his gaze was as cold as the rain.
“Xiao Li, you’re finally back, you’re finally willing to see me.” Shen Shao suppressed the confusion in his heart. He wanted to explain to Jun Li first.
Jun Li shook his tail and swam towards Shen Shao, saying lightly, “As long as you’re here, I’ll always be back.”
Shen Shao was happily surprised, thinking that Jun Li thought about him like he thought about him.
“Xiao Li, I’m so happy you came back. I’ve been looking for you for so long, but I couldn’t find you. Did you return to the sea?”
“Looking for me?” Jun Li propped himself up, looking at Shen Shao with his head tilted, “Why?”
Shen Shao knelt down, looking at Jun Li in a daze, “Because I regretted. Xiao Li, I owe you an apology. It was all my fault. I know now that only days spent with the one I love is worthwhile. Otherwise, life is dull and colorless no matter how long I live.”
Jun Li squinted, “You love me?”
Shen Shao solemnly nodded, extending a hand, wanting to touch Jun Li’s face.
“Even though I’m a male merperson, you still love me?” Jun Li asked with a smile.
The hand Shen Shao extended towards Jun Li paused.
“What? M-male merperson?” Shen Shao didn’t seem to know how to respond to this and blinked. Raindrops dripped from his eyelashes and his expression was uglier than crying.
Jun Li turned around and used his hands to support his chin as his tail waved through the water.
His tone was as innocent as before, “What? Didn’t you say you love me? Do you not love me if I’m a male merperson?”
“N-no, but why?” Shen Shao felt a bit unsteady and knelt down on one knee to steady himself, “Didn’t you say you wanted to be female before? Why are you suddenly male?”
“Because I wanted an innocent love. See, you loved my blood more than you loved me. If I became a female merperson, wouldn’t you love my appearance more than you love me?”
Shen Shao hurriedly denied it, “Of course not!”
“Sadly, I’ve already fallen for your tricks once before. I’m scared now.” Jun Li leaned into Shen Shao, “My brother told me that humans are very crafty. I won’t be able to guess what they’re thinking at all. I’ve learnt from my mistakes, I won’t be stupid and trusting again.”
Shen Shao: . . .
The rain was getting bigger.
Shen Shao didn’t bring an umbrella. He was completely drenched, and the coldness from his body seemed to be spreading to his heart.
Looking at Jun Li again, he was smiling, but his smile seemed to be strange. Shen Shao subconsciously felt a sense of danger.
