Chapter 790: Chapter 790: Li Qiao and Yin Mo Meet

He Chen fondly pinched her cheek, gave it a light tug, and raised his eyebrows mockingly, “Hesitant and cautious, looking before you leap, why haven’t you grown at all?”

Yin Mo gripped the steering wheel a bit harder, turned her face away to dodge He Chen’s hand, and said indifferently, “It has nothing to do with growing, I’m not you, I have no worries for the future.”

He Chen scoffed, resting his hands behind his head, taking a drag on his cigarette and said lazily, “Don’t make excuses for your incompetence. At this rate, you might as well give in to Xiao Yehui and content yourself with being his lapdog.”

“There’s no need for you to speak so unpleasantly.” Yin Mo ground out the words through clenched teeth, giving He Chen a sidelong glare filled with displeasure, “I’m not his lapdog!”

He Chen lifted his brows in amusement, the cigarette dangling from his lips as he spoke unclearly, “Offended by that, are you? What kind of mental toughness is this.”

Yin Mo: “…”

You can never reason with a scoundrel.

He Chen is the perfect example.

About twenty minutes later, the car entered the main thoroughfare of London Port.

Yin Mo watched the rearview mirror vigilantly, not noticing any vehicles following them, allowing her tense mood to relax slightly, “Where to next?”

He Chen, who had been feigning sleep with his eyes closed, opened his eyelids slightly at the sound and looked out the window before closing them again, murmuring an address.

Yin Mo was slightly surprised, “The Parliament Palace?”

“Darling, you really do talk too much.”

Yin Mo fell silent, pressing the gas pedal to the floor and speeding through the intersection’s red light at almost reckless speed.

The sudden acceleration jolted He Chen, hitting the back of his head. It wasn’t painful, but that didn’t prevent his irritation.

Yin Mo, sensing his sullen gaze, gave a slight smile, “Sorry.”

Watching her naturally smiling lips, He Chen felt a surge of provoking heat.

This woman seemed completely unaware of how tempting her face was.

His eyes narrowed, a dark glint flickered in them, “Stop the car.”

Yin Mo, confused, eased the speed and glanced at him hurriedly, “What for?”

He Chen gestured toward the opposite curb, repeating those two words, “Stop the car.”

Not understanding his intentions, Yin Mo turned on the signal light and quickly brought the car to a stop at the roadside, “What… mmph.”

A handsome face suddenly leaned in close, clasping the back of Yin Mo’s head and seizing her lips.

In the sunlight, by the side of the road, within the confines of the car, no matter how spacious, Yin Mo couldn’t break free from He Chen’s invasion.

Though he had done this sort of thing often, there were occasional pedestrians passing by the roadside, and every move they made in the driver’s seat could be clearly captured.

“Let me… go.”

Yin Mo’s attempts to push him away felt as futile as an ant shaking a tree to He Chen, who quickly pinned her wrists above her head.

The man captured her lips, sucking and nibbling lightly, a pleased chuckle resonating from his throat, “Baby, do you want me to take you right now?”

Yin Mo stopped moving.

She knew that with men like He Chen, the more she struggled, the more it would arouse his desire to conquer.

Submission was the only way to prevent him from going further.

Sure enough, when Yin Mo submitted, the man was satisfied.

He Chen’s rough thumb wiped her lips, admiring the perfectly shaped smiling lips, and lowered his head to peck a couple more times, “Good girl, keep driving.”

Yin Mo pursed her lips, lowered the window halfway, and restarted the engine to merge back into traffic.

The cold wind from outside poured into the car, messing up the loose hair at her temples, and it seemed only the breeze could disperse the scent He Chen had left on her.

He didn’t use perfume, but the pure masculine scent was more potent and lasting than any cologne.

As the car drove away from the streets, He Chen’s peripheral vision swept across the road surveillance outside the window, his long, narrow pupils flashed with a sharp light, but it was gone in an instant.

…

At ten o’clock in the morning, the supercar stopped in the inner square of the Parliament Building.

Yin Mo opened the scissor doors and immediately saw two unassuming Bentleys parked next to her.

She turned her gaze only to find that He Chen had already made his way up the steps on his own.

Yin Mo leisurely followed him inside, circled the lengthy corridor, and quickly arrived at the third floor of the west wing.

The parliamentarian stood by the door, and upon seeing He Chen, performed a gentlemanly salute before turning to push open the wooden door of the Scripture Pavilion.

Yin Mo, not understanding the situation, followed inside and, without the time to look around, lifted her head to see Li Qiao under a row of bookshelves to the left, holding a notebook in one hand, flipping through the pages occasionally, her profile appearing slightly puzzled.

“Qiaoqiao!” Yin Mo exclaimed with surprise, disregarding the waiting He Chen and strode eagerly towards Li Qiao’s direction.

He Chen pursed his lips. “…”

Li Qiao, hearing the familiar call, raised her eyebrows and looked up to see Yin Mo already embracing her.

“Second sister?” Li Qiao hugged her back and cast a glance at He Chen, gently patting Yin Mo’s back and asked in a low voice, “Was the road here safe?”

Yin Mo let go of her, smiling and nodding, “Safe, don’t worry.”

Li Qiao closed her notebook, leaning against the bookshelf as her gaze dropped to Yin Mo’s arm, raising her eyebrows slightly.

In tacit understanding, Yin Mo lifted her forearm, her tone very gentle, “It’s already healed.”

Although the occasional rainy, overcast weather would bring some discomfort, she knew she was alive thanks to Li Qiao’s efforts after being in Shang Shaoyan’s hands.

The two hadn’t seen each other for a long time, with many obstacles between them.

Finally able to meet in a safe environment, Yin Mo had much to say.

Li Qiao pulled her to sit down on the sofas in the reading area. Before she could speak, Yin Mo was the first to ask, “How is Yun Lih doing now?”

“For now, he’s fine.”

Yin Mo cast her eyes down, her fingers also tensing under the table, “Sorry, I was careless.”

Li Qiao slightly curved her lips, “It’s not your fault, he wasn’t vigilant enough on his own. I’ll figure something out.”

Yin Mo looked up and locked eyes with her, and despite all the misunderstandings they’d been through, she could still see outright trust in Li Qiao’s eyes.

A sudden softness overcame her heart; her lips quivered and her eyes reddened, “Aren’t you afraid that I would betray you?”

“What’s there to be scared of?” Li Qiao propped her cheek and looked at Yin Mo, nonchalantly smiling, “It’s just a choice, between us there has never been a question of betrayal.”

Yin Mo’s voice turned hoarse and she turned her face away, exhaling deeply, “Thankfully, you still remember what I said.”

“So, don’t talk about betrayal. It’s rare to meet up, why not tell me… about your difficulties instead?”

Li Qiao traced Yin Mo’s brows and eyes with her gaze; she had grown more mature and poised than she had been years before.

Still sexy, yet in those eyes, the emotions were too dense, hidden away in a place devoid of sunlight making them difficult to probe.

At that moment, Yin Mo turned to look at the bookshelf beside her, her eyes red with sudden vulnerability, leaving her at a loss for what to do.

She was very upset, for herself, and also for her Qi Zai.

Yin Mo suppressed her troubles, feigning ease with a jest, “I thought you would ask about the Xiao family.”

Li Qiao should have asked about the Xiao family; she had said it was rare to meet, yet she did not mention the Charlman Family at all and instead inquired about Yin Mo’s hardships.

This made it even harder for Yin Mo to resist such consideration and warmth.

The Qi Zai from three years ago and the Li Qiao from three years later remained consistently the same.
