Chapter 796: Chapter 796: Are You Hurt?

Su Moshi had hooked up an IV for Yun Lih, while Xia Siyu’s mouth was swollen at the corners, continuously wiping the fine sweat from his forehead with a towel.

At this moment, Li Qiao was shielded behind Luoyu, and from Shang Yu’s perspective, he could only see her standing with one hand in her pocket, her face emanating a cold frostiness.

Shang Yu strode over, grabbed her arm, and pulled her to his chest, looking down at her closely, “Are you hurt?”

Those in the throes of drug addiction had no rationale to speak of.

Moreover, Yun Lih was skilled in combat; out of control, there was no guarantee he wouldn’t lash out and hurt someone.

Li Qiao’s expression softened slightly, looking up at Shang Yu with a faint smile on her lips, “No.”

Shang Yu glanced at Yun Lih, who was breathing heavily, and withdrew his gaze, his eyes darkening with emotion, “Your hand.”

Li Qiao, looking innocent, spread out her left hand, the right still in her pocket.

The man’s gaze fell, his lips pressed tightly together; seeing her cunning movement, his jawline also tightened progressively.

Seeing this, Li Qiao sighed and took out her hand, saying softly, “It’s not hurt, just red.”

The incident was, in fact, quite coincidental. Hearing that Yun Lih was undergoing withdrawal, they had rushed over, and just as they entered the living room, a teacup came flying. Li Qiao instinctively raised her hand to block it, and the teacup hit the back of her hand.

It wasn’t very painful, merely leaving a slight mark.

Although Yun Lih was experiencing withdrawal symptoms, he hadn’t attempted to hurt anyone intentionally; it was clear he still had some rationality, but was struggling immensely.

Li Qiao took a step forward and placed her hand in the man’s palm, “It just got bumped, I didn’t fight back.”

Shang Yu’s expression did not soften as he cast a somber gaze at Yun Lih on the couch, “How is he?”

Su Moshi adjusted the IV drip rate, stood up, and rubbed his short hair, “I’ve used a sedative; it’s stabilized him for now.”

Clearly, the pills provided by Shang Zonghai did not alleviate the effects of the drugs.

Yun Lih’s detoxification treatment had become urgent.

Shang Yu shot a glance at Liuyun, who nodded in understanding, “I’ll stay with him.”

As he spoke, Liuyun handed over a black cylindrical case from his shoulder, Shang Yu took it and left the room with Li Qiao.

Xia Siyu crouched next to the sofa, silently caring for Yun Lih.

Without looking at Su Moshi, she spoke in a low voice, “You go back and rest; Liuyun and I will watch over him.”

With a touch of reluctance, Su Moshi pursed his lips, “Your face…”

Xia Siyu touched her swollen mouth with the back of her hand, shook her head, and said, “It’s nothing, I’ll just ice it.”

Su Moshi was helpless but had no other choice.

During Yun Lih’s painful struggle, his elbow had accidentally hit Xia Siyu in the face.

After looking over the disheveled living room, Su Moshi nodded to Liuyun and went out to call the servants to clean up.

That night, Xia Siyu stayed by Yun Lih’s side, sleepless throughout the night.

…

Li Qiao and Shang Yu returned to their own villa, and upon entering the living room, she noticed the cylindrical case in his hand and tugged at him, “What did you bring?”

Shang Yu put down the case, his facial expression still showing clear displeasure. He took her hand to examine it closely, and seeing only a red mark, the tension in his lips eased slightly.

In a deep voice, he raised his eyelids and requested, “Stay further away from him next time.”

Li Qiao nodded agreeably, “Okay.”

Shang Yu’s face softened, his thumb rubbing the back of her hand, he gestured towards the case, “The maintenance blueprints of the Scripture Pavilion over the years.”

A few minutes later, Li Qiao removed the cap of the cylindrical case and drew out a stack of rolled-up blueprints, nine in total.

Li Qiao unfolded the blueprints on the coffee table, and the full view of the Scripture Pavilion’s CAD designs clearly came into sight.

She raised an eyebrow at Shang Yu and asked in surprise, “These are the original CAD designs?”

“Mm.” The man curved his thin lips, his gaze sweeping over the blueprints with an air of nonchalance as he responded.

Li Qiao caressed the blueprints, the CAD original architectural plans of the Parliament Building’s Scripture Pavilion, which should have been top-secret files in the Architectural Engineering Bureau.

She observed the changes in the blueprints from different periods intently. As she reached the third one, the man’s languid voice arose beside her ear, “Have you had dinner?”

Li Qiao’s gaze faltered, and just as she was about to say she was not hungry, Luoyu interjected, “Before dinner started, Yun Lih had an episode, and the lady left without eating.”

“Eat first, then look.” The man, without another word, pulled her wrist and headed straight to the dining room.

Li Qiao glanced at Luoyu, curling the corner of her mouth, and while walking, she looked back, “Take care of the blueprints for me, and send them to the study.”

“Yes, madam.”

After dinner, it was already half-past eight.

Li Qiao looked at her wristwatch and turned her head to gaze outside the living room at the night, her thoughts waxing and waning.

Shang Yu came back to the living room with a cup of maternity milk powder, and upon lifting his eyes, saw Li Qiao hugging a pillow, lost in thought. He walked over and patted her head, “Didn’t you want to look at the blueprints?”

Li Qiao snapped back to reality, sniffing the scent of the milk, and nodded with a smile, “Yeah, I’ll go check on Yun Lih first.”

As she attempted to stand, her shoulder was suddenly pressed down, the man’s eyes narrowing unhappily as he pursed his lips, “Liuyun is there; nothing will happen.”

Li Qiao’s mouth opened slightly, and she let out a laugh without sound.

She lowered her head, caressing the back of her hand, knowing Shang Yu’s intentions. Without insisting further, she took his hand and they went upstairs, “Then let’s go look at the blueprints.”

…

In the neighboring villa, Yun Lih had already fallen asleep under the influence of the sedative.

Following the addiction episode, he was utterly disheveled and in pain, his uncontrollable behavior nearly exhausting all his strength.

In a hazy state, he felt a cooling wetness brush across his face, dispelling some of the burning agony within him.

He struggled to open his eyelids, as if he could hear someone speaking nearby.

“Miss Xia, how about I take over? You should apply some medicine to yourself first.”

Liuyun noticed Xia Siyu’s mouth was both red and swollen, with streaks of blood seeping at the corners, and couldn’t help but suggest softly.

Xia Siyu, pressing an ice pack to her face with one hand and wiping sweat off Yun Lih with a towel in the other, shook her head at Liuyun’s suggestion, “No need, I’m fine.”

Yun Lih, not hearing clearly, lifted the corner of his eye to glance, and through his blurry vision, saw Xia Siyu’s tired face.

He moved his lips, but no sound came out.

As Xia Siyu removed the ice pack, he finally saw her face was injured, swollen high.

Yun Lih closed his eyes, not opening them again.

The synthetic cannabinoids were indeed potent; his first episode had nearly driven him mad.

What to do next time?

He truly was useless, having nearly caused Li Qiao to be trapped in the Primitive Forest eight years ago.

Eight years later, he thought he was being intelligent by sneaking into the manor, but he ended up being a burden again.

In the study, Li Qiao had laid out all nine CAD blueprints across the boss’s desk.

Every maintenance and repair had detailed records and annotations.

Li Qiao spent twenty minutes comparing all the blueprints, frowning and resting her chin in her hand, lost in thought.

She hadn’t finished the milk powder in her cup, leaving half of it.

Shang Yu looked up from his phone, leaning on the couch, and upon seeing her no longer browsing through blueprints, he walked over, his arm draped over the back of the chair, leaning in to ask, “Did you figure out anything?”
