Chapter 39: The Book Of Azora!

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

After a long time, Theocritus finally looked up to ask, “Mage Sean, what would you like to trade all this for? A staff? A robe? A trinket? A ring? A pendant? A piece of Magic Equipment, perhaps a reagent?”

Sean laughed then replied, “I’d like to trade for a spell book.”

Theocritus’s expression after that showed that he had expected it.

It was an easy guess.

Since Sean was willing to trade a staff that could barely be used by Mid Rank Mages, how could he lack common Magic Equipment? Obviously, he needed something that was more valuable than a staff, something that was more important to a Mage – a spell book!

After thinking carefully, Theocritus said, “Mage Sean, the items that you’re offering… They’re definitely worth more than a Low Rank Mage’s spell book. As for a Mid Rank Mage’s spell book, it doesn’t matter if your items are valuable enough, even if they are, I can’t trade one to you. After all, I need them too… You’re giving me a hard time.”

A spell book was an extremely valuable Magic Item. Not only did the production of a spell book require rare materials and profound magical knowledge, but it also consumed a substantial amount of time, energy, and Mana. Therefore, a Mage would normally create only one spell book, which would likely stay with the Mage for the rest of his life.

It was not easy to exchange for a spell book.

Fortunately, Sean was not going to make things difficult for Theocritus because he was not going to exchange for a real spell book.

Sean smiled as he stood up to respond seriously, “Sir Theocritus, you’re mistaken. I’m not looking to trade for a real spell book, I’d like a transcript. It doesn’t have to be a real Magic Item, it just needs to have a copy of a real spell book’s contents. Of course, an ordinary transcript isn’t worth all the items I brought, so I need one that’s of worth, one’s that’s at least…

“A High Rank spell book’s transcript, or rather…

“The Book of Azora’s transcript!”

The Book of Azora!

Theocritus sprung up from his seat upon hearing the name. He was clearly shocked and confused.

Though he was not wielding a staff, he gathered rich Arcane energy in his hands. He was prepared to strike a fatal blow.

Theocritus’s eyes shone with disbelief as he said slowly, “Mage Sean, how did you know that I have the Book of Azora!”

Sean grinned. He was not at all surprised that Theocritus suddenly freaked out.

He did not make a move, and was even more relaxed now that his assumption was verified. After returning to his seat, he explained, “Sir Theocritus, you don’t have to be so shocked. Honestly, it was just a guess. I didn’t actually think that the High Rank Mage, Azora, left a spell book behind, nor that said book would now be in your hands.”

Sean explained his logic.

A Mage Tower was usually named after its builder or the occupant. For instance, Karazhan was also known as Medivh’s Tower because Medivh was the occupant.

Hence, Rick said that the Tower of Azora was built by a High Rank Mage named Azora.

Sean was more certain of this than Rick. After all, the Mage Tower was not the only thing named after Azora. The precious Magic Item at the top of the tower followed the same naming style.

Hence, it was obvious that the Mage Tower was built by a different Mage.

Although Sean could not predict the Mage’s Level, he was confident that the Mage was a High Rank Mage.

Would it not make sense that the person who created the Eye of Azora, an intriguing Magic Item, was at least a High Rank Mage?

Sean was unsure whether Azora had left a spell book, so it was merely a guess. If Azora did leave one behind, according to Mage custom, it would be named the Book of Azora.

Rick had also mentioned that Azora had disappeared a long time ago, and that Theocritus, who had appeared in Elwynn Forest one day, had taken over the Tower of Azora.

Here came the question.

Why had Theocritus taken possession of the Tower of Azora?

It was worth noting that the builder or occupant of any Mage Tower would take protective measures by carving Runes, leaving Watchers behind, and so on. The safeguards in a Mage Tower left by someone who was at least a High Rank Mage must be very strict, so how did a Mid Rank Mage like Theocritus gain ownership so easily?

Perhaps there was some unexplained relationship between Sir Theocritus and Azora.

Had Theocritus really left Stormwind City to avoid the city’s politics? Perhaps there was more to it than that?

Maybe he had actually left Stormwind City to inherit the Tower of Azora?

Who could guess the truth?

Sean could not.

That said, there was one thing that he was sure of.

Since Theocritus could enter and explore the Tower of Azora, if Azora really had left a spell book, it was most likely in Theocritus’s possession.

Of course, all this had merely been a hypothesis.

Sean was deceiving Theocritus.

He did not expect any of it to be true.

However, Theocritus actually did possess the Book of Azora!

On Elwynn Forest’s main road, Sean and Rick each rode a horse as they slowly headed towards Goldshire.

Throughout their journey, Rick wanted to speak a few times, but was hesitant.

Sean did not bother about him. He had a pleased smile on his face as he opened the leather book in his hands.

Yes. He had finally acquired the Book of Azora’s transcript, and was very satisfied.

The thick leather book recorded over thirty practical Spells from the lowest-ranked Frostbolt, Arcane Missiles, and Fireball, to the higher-ranked Arcane Explosion, Blink, and Counterspell. It even contained the highly ranked Polymorph. The book’s contents were complex yet comprehensive.

Similar to most Mages, Azora was not a Tri-elemental Mage like Khadgar as he only focused on Arcane Magic. As such, the Spells that were Mid Rank and above were all Arcane spells.

Even so, Sean was extremely content.

The transcript was very important for Sean who only knew Arcane Missiles, Fireball, and Frostbolt at the moment. It basically paved the way for him to learn Spells in the future.

Sean had given up the Coldlight Seer’s staff and a whole box of pearls for this.

However, it was worth it.

How could worldly possessions be more important than knowledge?
