Chapter 828: After 321 regret, Miss Bai came_2 Chapter 828: After 321 regret, Miss Bai came_2 “Grandpa, do you like Xiaoqi more?” she suddenly asked.
Ji Heng, holding the watering can, lifted his head and an expression resembling speechlessness appeared on his aged face for the first time.
“Isn’t that so?” Bai Lian crossed her arms over her chest, her tone unhurried, “Then why did you get up so early to stew soup?”
Ji Heng glanced at her and, after watering the flowers, returned to the kitchen to pour the soup on the chopping board down the drain.
“Hey, wait, Grandpa.” Bai Lian quickly grabbed the soup bowl, took a couple of sips, and then told him about the situation in Xiangcheng, “Sun Fei has already investigated it clearly; it was Zhou Jian who switched them. If you have any questions, ask Officer Sun.”
Zhou Jian, Ren Qian’s secretary.
After Bai Lian went upstairs, Ji Heng stood in the kitchen for quite a while.
He somewhat dreaded to imagine that it had taken him this long to find out that Ji Shaorong’s child had been switched, and if it weren’t for the presence of Bai Lian…
They might have been kept in the dark all their lives.
Ji Shaorong has not returned to this day.
After pouring the soup into a thermos, Ji Heng returned to his own room.
He opened an old wooden box, where that stack of black-and-white photos still lay. The woman in the cheongsam was tenderly smiling at the camera; he slowly ran his hand over these photos before taking out an old mobile phone from the bottom of the box.
He searched the room for a long time for a charger and finally found one to charge the phone.
The phone hadn’t been used in a long time; he didn’t wait for it to start up, but took the thermos with him to the hospital first.

Upstairs.
Bai Lian took a shower before heading to the study.
There were two documents on the desk in the study–one was the confidentiality agreement given to her by Dean Huang, which she had signed but had not yet returned to him, and the other was the rare metal trade deal she had signed with Wang Youfeng yesterday.
The phone rang.
It was a call from Dean Huang, inquiring about this matter.
Knowing that Dean Huang was at school, Bai Lian picked up both agreements and first went to Jiang University.
Dean Huang was in his office.
As Bai Lian arrived, the teaching assistant was reporting the content of the emails to Dean Huang, “So far, we have already received ten emails.”
As soon as the news broke this year that Dean Huang was taking on graduate students, it was still that same group of people who were the first to know–their recommendation letters had already been sent to Dean Huang’s email box.
“Except for Xu Wenyao’s, reject all the others.” Dean Huang stood up to greet Bai Lian,
The teaching assistant had already guessed. This year, Xu Wenyao had the highest scores in both the written exam and the interview, so it was not surprising at all that Dean Huang chose him.
What was most important was…
The teaching assistant’s gaze shifted to Bai Lian; that was Bai Lian’s brother.
Bai Lian didn’t speak. She came to Dean Huang’s office today, partly to inquire about Xu Wenyao’s whereabouts.

The Physics Building.
The graduate student re-examinations at Jiang University had already been over for two days.
During the written exam, Xu Wenyao from the Department of Literature and Science and Jian Zhe, who seemed to appear out of nowhere, scored frighteningly high.
Xu Wenyao had a certain small fame in the Physics Department at Jiang University; people knew him and, although they knew he scored very high, they were somewhat fine with it. The key was this Jian Zhe–who literally appeared as if he had jumped out of a crack in a rock.
This year, the Physics Department had a large number of graduate student applicants. Qi Jun, Yu Sheng, and their group went to the Physics Building to gather the books they had left behind.
During their own postgraduate entrance exams, most of them were in the same fixed classrooms of the Physics Building, and their books were inside.
Now that the exams were over, the instructor asked them to come together mainly to clear the books for the next batch of students.
“Qi Ge, which professor are you planning to choose?” Yu Sheng didn’t pass the entrance exam and was preparing to leave the school to submit internship applications.
He asked Qi Jun.
Qi Jun breezed through the re-examination, but because he was psychologically affected, he barely made it, “Still looking.”
He had approached two professors, but both said they had already chosen someone.
He didn’t achieve a good ranking in last summer’s mathematical modeling competition, so Qi Jun’s resume wasn’t impressive and finding a decent supervisor proved challenging.
“What about Dr. Zuo?” Yu Sheng remembered the instructor from last summer, the professor with the highest position that he knew, “Doesn’t Miss Qi know Dr. Zuo?”
Speaking of Qi Shuyun, Qi Jun grew even silent.
Qi Shuyun didn’t pass the re-examination, which was even harder for her than for him.
Last summer, Qi Jun was surrounded by a bunch of people; this year, after the exams, there were only a few left around him, as most had gone to look for jobs.
Seeing Qi Jun’s expression, Yu Sheng knew the situation was not optimistic.
The group headed downstairs. On Sunday morning, there weren’t many people coming in and out of the building.
Suddenly, they heard an excited voice not far away. Someone was softly calling “Dean Huang.”
This voice–Qi Jun and Yu Sheng both heard it. They stood at the doorway, shocked, and looked up toward the staircase.
