Gu Ya’s large hands clasped Su Yunjin’s arms, trapping her. She struggled briefly but to no avail. Eventually, Su Yunjin stopped moving and simply allowed Gu Ya to hold her.

Thinking about how Gu Ya had done so much for her without her knowledge, Su Yunjin was deeply moved, especially by the fruit wine from the cottage on the mountain.

Su Yunjin was even more touched.

She thought his little wife would struggle.

Gu Ya hadn’t expected that, once he held her, his little wife would quietly fall asleep in his arms without moving or twisting. He was a bit surprised.

Su Yunjin burrowed her little head into Gu Ya’s chest, found a comfortable position, and closed her eyes for sleep, “Husband, we still need to go to town tomorrow! You should sleep early too.”

The murmuring voice of his little wife came from his arms, and Gu Ya released his grip on her, closing his eyes to sleep as well. Since Su Yunjin hadn’t managed to discuss with Gu Ya the best timing to open their shop the night before, the next day, as soon as Gu Ya hurried to the town and Su Yunjin arrived at the tavern, they began discussing it.

“Husband, when do you think is the best time for our Zuixiang Restaurant to open?” Su Yunjin implied that the sooner the better, since everything was ready, including the fruit wine.

Gu Ya had already considered the opening date for the restaurant, and he decided to choose an upcoming auspicious day soon. In the town, there was a dame specialized in selecting dates. They could find her, have her choose a good day for them, and then they could open, “Yunjin, later I’ll go find someone to help us pick a date. Once we set the day, we can open.”

The last time they opened a tavern, they also had someone help them choose an auspicious day, as neither Su Yunjin nor Gu Ya could read such signs. Naturally, they needed someone else to look, and Su Yunjin had no objections to what Gu Ya suggested.

Nodding, she said, “That’s a good idea, Husband! Let’s go find someone to help us with the date right now.” It was still early, and the person delivering the signboard probably wouldn’t come just yet.

Choosing a date wouldn’t take much time; they could quickly decide. Su Yunjin remembered that on this very street, there were old women who helped with such things, and they could easily find one to come over.

So, they could go find someone now.

Taking his little wife with him, Gu Ya went into town with her to find a dame who could help them choose the nearest auspicious day. The old woman had a small booklet in her hands.

When helping with date picking, the old woman would research from the booklet. Upon hearing that Su Yunjin and her husband wanted to pick a propitious day to open their business, she riffled through it for them.

Closing the booklet, she looked at Su Yunjin and Gu Ya, smiling kindly, “Young master, six days from now is an auspicious day, suitable for opening. Your business, I guarantee, will prosper once you open.”

Su Yunjin didn’t really believe in this, but when in Rome, do as the Romans do–to attract good fortune, she came to have the dame choose the auspicious day. The dame’s words were auspicious and pleasant to hear.

Su Yunjin found it quite agreeable listening to them.

Since an auspicious day was six days away, that’s when she and Gu Ya would open Zuixiang Restaurant. They paid silver to the old woman, and Su Yunjin left cheerfully with Gu Ya.

“Husband, in six days, we should be able to get everything ready for the opening of Zuixiang Restaurant.” There was still a small part of the tavern that needed tending to.

In six days, most of the remaining issues should be resolved. Opening on this date satisfied Su Yunjin immensely; after all, she had planned to open around six days later as well.

Now that six days away was a good day, it suited Su Yunjin’s plans perfectly. Besides being able to prepare the remaining items, during these six days, they could also properly promote the opening of the tavern.
