She decided to take these items back and make a good impression in front of her mother-in-law today. Tomorrow she would come to see her younger brother again, as there was still time before her husband’s birthday.

Hoisting the fish, Gu Hengniang looked up at Su Yunjin and spoke bizarrely, “Little sister-in-law, since you don’t welcome me, your second sister, I shall not impose any longer. It’s my fault my younger brother isn’t home. If I stayed, who knows how much deference I’d have to show to an outsider?” Grabbing so many items, Gu Hengniang made no pretense of informing Su Yunjin.

Gu Hengniang took the items and was ready to leave.

“Second sister, you can leave, but you must leave the items behind,” Su Yunjin blocked Gu Hengniang, determined not to let her take anything.

Gu Hengniang instinctively hid the items behind her back. “Leave them behind? Why should I? All this belongs to my younger brother, what’s wrong with me taking something of my younger brother’s? I didn’t take anything of yours, woman. You’re being supported by my younger brother, eating his food, using his things–I haven’t even called you useless yet! And you dare tell me what I can or can’t take?”
