Chapter 1245: Chapter 928, Confirming the Database
Island Lord’s Mansion.
The afternoon sunlight spilled across the window panes, and the air conditioner hummed softly, keeping the room at a comfortable temperature.
After lunch, Wu Heng called everyone in the house together, saying he had something to announce.
Mini carried a platter of fruits, offering some post-meal snacks to everyone. “This morning, the main base sent a new doll here. The Master wants to introduce us to its ghost.”
“Is it Miss Bella?” Andre Willow asked.
Mini shook her head, indicating she wasn’t sure either.
Wu Heng said, “I have three ghosts in total–Xiao Xiao, Bella, and one more. I’ll introduce you to them in a moment.”
“One more?” Elder Shanaela raised her eyebrow.
The other maids also looked curiously toward Wu Heng.
“Yes. They usually stay upstairs in the study.” Wu Heng then called toward the staircase, “Glenda, Bella, come down!”
The creak of wooden stairs echoed in the room.
Two figures descended from upstairs.
Leading the way was a woman in a blue classical gown. Her hair was neatly tied up at the back, adorned with a pearl net, and a few curly strands fell gracefully at the sides of her face.
She paused at the third step and performed a polite bow, her porcelain-white fingers lightly resting on the banister. “Elder Shanaela, ladies, I am Glenda. I have always been by Wu Heng’s side.”
Her voice was gentle and magnetic, and her poised demeanor revealed her as a mature and intellectual noblewoman.
After speaking, she quickly descended the stairs, making way for the figure behind her.
The next was someone wearing a floral dress, with light caramel-colored hair tied back with an orange ribbon. Her round face bore a sweet expression.
She glanced at everyone in the living room, then followed with a bow, saying, “I’m Bella. I greet Elder Shanaela and the ladies…”
It really was Bella…
The tavern maid in the story who was killed by the evil cult for the sake of her village.
“Find yourselves seats,” Wu Heng said.
After the two ghosts sat down, Wu Heng continued, “You all know Bella’s story. The content of the tale is true. As for Glenda, she has been with me since my time in Lundham City.”
“Lundham City, huh!” Mini and the others were somewhat surprised.
They had lived in Lundham City but never noticed Glenda’s presence back then.
Glenda smiled and said, “At that time, my family lived outside the city. By coincidence, I happened to meet Wu Heng on a mission and decided to follow along.”
In front of the household women, Glenda maintained an elegant and composed demeanor, quite unlike her interactions with Wu Heng, where conversations could quickly turn suggestive.
Shanaela, acting as though she was the lady of the house, smiled and said, “Thank you both for taking care of Wu Heng.”
“He has helped us a lot as well,” Glenda replied with a smile.
“Lady Glenda, were your family members still there when you left?” Robey asked directly.
Glenda shook her head. “They weren’t. Our house was burned down.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Robey apologized with some guilt.
“It’s nothing. I feel wonderful now. Following Wu Heng out into the world–if it weren’t for him, I’d have only ever read about elves and short people in books.”
Bella chimed in as well, “Me too. I had no idea there were so many other races out there.”
The ghosts were already very familiar with the maids, so although it was their first formal meeting, it didn’t feel awkward at all. They quickly started chatting with ease.
Wu Heng sat to the side, listening for a while, but soon realized he couldn’t get a word in edgewise.
After waving a quick goodbye, he headed toward the courtyard.
Shanaela exited with him, taking his arm. “No wonder you never let anyone into the study–it turns out you were hiding two ghosts up there.”
“What do you mean, hiding? It’s all completely aboveboard!” Wu Heng replied.
Shanaela chuckled and continued, “Good thing they’re all young women. If one of them were a male ghost…”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted toward the lightly dressed maids. “Otherwise, we’d have to start dressing a bit more conservatively around the house.”
Wu Heng raised an eyebrow. He hadn’t really thought about that before. “By that logic, male necromancers could only contract female ghosts?”
“Who knows… It’s just that it feels a little weird,” Shanaela said casually.
Come to think of it, she had a point.
At home, the household women tended to dress quite lightly. Even though ghosts had no physical desires anymore, it might still cause them some psychological discomfort.
“Got it. I’ll be more mindful in the future,” Wu Heng said, pulling Shanaela closer by the shoulder.
Shanaela laughed and said, “I’m just mentioning it–I wasn’t trying to influence your choice in ghosts.”
“Alright,” Wu Heng replied, still holding her close.
Shanaela glanced back over her shoulder before continuing, “I’ll go chat with Glenda and the others.”
“Mm, I’m heading over to Lilith’s place.”
The two parted ways–Shanaela returned to the couch, while Wu Heng cast a Teleportation Technique and left.
…
When he reappeared, he was already at Lilith’s mansion.
The courtyard was full of blooming flowers, with butterflies and bees flitting among the blossoms.
The butler stepped out to greet him, bowing courteously. “Leader Wu Heng!”
“Where’s Leader Lilith?”
“The young lady is in the living room. Please, follow me!” The butler gestured politely.
Wu Heng entered the living room and saw Xiao Xiao sitting in front of the television, explaining the combo techniques of various characters to Lilith and the conditions needed for successful executions.
Hearing footsteps, Xiao Xiao looked up and smiled. “Uncle, what brings you here?”
Wu Heng said, “A new doll just arrived at home. Come see it when you have time.”
“Huh? It arrived so soon? Alright, I’ll head back later,” Xiao Xiao said happily.
Lilith turned around and asked, “A doll? Didn’t we agree that Xiao Xiao’s dolls would be my responsibility to buy?”
The butler brought over tea, and Wu Heng sat back in a rear seat, smiling. “I double-checked the design with Xiao Xiao. Moving forward, you can handle all future purchases–buy as many as you want.”
