Chapter 1248: Chapter 929, I Want to Stay on Gold and Silver Island_2
“Hmm, Wen Mansha said there was an assassination attempt last time. Has the issue been resolved?” Wu Heng asked directly.
“Thank you for your concern, my lord. Lord Wen Mansha laid a small trap; the assassin fell for it and was successfully eliminated. There’s no longer any danger,” the Princess answered softly.
Wen Mansha explained, “The one who killed them was the Skeleton you assigned. They couldn’t even escape.”
Wu Heng had stationed the Level 20 Skeleton Warrior ‘Pot Lid’ in Lundham City, with the primary task of protecting them.
It seemed the results were quite effective–once the assassin’s identity was confirmed, there was no chance of escape.
Wu Heng nodded. “Still, you need to stay vigilant.”
“Understood, Master,” Wen Mansha said with a smile.
The Princess, holding her child, quietly sat to the side and said nothing further.
Wu Heng continued asking, “How are you and the child doing?”
Wen Mansha smiled and replied, “We’re both doing very well. She eats and sleeps all day, though she seems to be missing her dad.”
Her eyes glimmered as they glanced at the screen. “I miss her dad too…”
Even the Princess’ eyes widened with shock. Was this something she should be hearing?
“I’ll visit you both soon,” Wu Heng said before continuing, “How’s the power station construction coming along?”
“Everything is going smoothly. The current setup supplies electricity from the city to surrounding villages. We’ve already completed two stations,” Wen Mansha said earnestly.
“Good. Try consolidating some of the more remote villages into towns or cities.”
“Understood!” Wen Mansha nodded firmly.
Wu Heng’s gaze shifted toward the Princess, who was sitting while cradling the child, then refocused on Wen Mansha. “I plan to build a church in Lundham City. I’ll need you to prepare for it in advance.”
“A church? Aren’t we on bad terms with The Holy Court?” Wen Mansha asked, puzzled.
“It won’t be theirs–it’ll be our own church. Mine.”
“Yours? Your church?” Both Wen Mansha and the Princess now wore expressions of doubt.
Why was a church suddenly part of the plan?
Wu Heng explained, “Once you reach hero status, building a church becomes necessary. I’ll explain the details when there’s a chance.”
“Oh~ Got it. I’ll arrange for it right away. Do you have any specific requirements?” Wen Mansha pulled out a pen and paper at once, ready to take notes.
“The building should be in the Central District. I’ll send you pictures of the blueprints later, and you can decorate the interior according to those. As for the Priest, I’ll assign someone when the time comes.”
Wen Mansha wrote everything down. “Alright, I’ll start making arrangements immediately.”
“Mm.” With the important matters settled, Wu Heng asked, “What level are you now?”
Wen Mansha, like a child being checked on by a teacher, widened her eyes slightly and hesitated before answering, “Almost Level 10.”
Level 10 wasn’t bad for Lundham City, but Wu Heng had stationed many high-level Skeletons there, which significantly raised the overall level benchmark.
“You haven’t been training much lately, have you?”
Wen Mansha said playfully, “What do you mean? I train every day! If you don’t believe me, ask ‘Natalia.'”
Wu Heng said matter-of-factly, “Next time I visit, you better be at Level 12.”
Wen Mansha pouted. “Master is so strict. Can’t we settle on Level 10?”
“No. You’ve been slacking,” Wu Heng said firmly.
Seeing that her playful attempts were ineffective, Wen Mansha had no choice but to say, “But what if I can’t reach it?”
“Then you’re getting spanked.”
“How many hits?”
“As many as it takes for you to reach Level 12.”
Wen Mansha widened her eyes. “You’re planning to spank me to death.”
Natalia, who was sitting nearby, couldn’t help but let out a covert smile.
It seemed that only Wu Heng could keep Wen Mansha in check.
Wu Heng turned to Natalia. “What about you? What level are you at now?”
“Me? Uh… I’m not in a rush…”
Wu Heng cut her off. “Wen Mansha has a baby to care for. Next time I come, you better be at Level 13. If not, you’re getting spanked too.”
“Why am I included in this?” Natalia exclaimed in disbelief.
“No reason. Just work hard if you don’t want to get spanked,” Wu Heng said with a straight face.
“Hmph!” Natalia grumbled and turned her head to the side.
Wen Mansha took her baby and said toward the phone, “Qinqin, it’s Daddy.”
The child blinked her big, curious eyes at the image of Wu Heng on the screen.
Wu Heng played along and teased the child briefly.
Once the call’s matters were resolved, it ended.
Regarding the Fifth Princess of Netalee City, Shanaela would handle notifying her. After all, the property agreements were signed by Shanaela.
The arrangements remained consistent.
With everything confirmed, Wu Heng left the room.
…
After lunch, Wu Heng instructed Bella to call Xiao Xiao back.
Lately, Xiao Xiao had been spending more time with Lilith than at the Island Lord’s Mansion, almost treating it as her own home.
With Lilith’s energy and lack of need for much rest, she spent all day playing with Xiao Xiao.
Once the Three Ghosts returned to their bodies, Wu Heng opened the boundary door in the study and stepped through.
The other side remained a prison monitoring room.
Having the Ghosts check on the Zombies, Wu Heng took out his phone and dialed Li Yahong’s number. After two rings, her voice came through. “Hello~!”
“What are you up to?”
“Sorting through stuff in the warehouse. Are you coming over tonight?” Li Yahong asked directly.
“Not tonight. Any updates lately?” Wu Heng asked in return.
“Nothing particularly noteworthy.” After a slight pause, Li Yahong continued, “Though Gao Rong sent word that the materials we handed over last time have been verified. It’s some kind of advanced weapon that, when detonated, can cause widespread enemy comas.”
Wu Heng’s eyes narrowed. “Detonate to cause comas? Like concussions?”
“You’re asking me? I’m just a mechanic!” Li Yahong retorted before adding, “They say it’s something about high-temperature vibrations creating a carrier wave that messes with brain nerves.”
Not being familiar with such technicalities, Wu Heng asked, “Can it be produced?”
“From what Gao Rong said, the blueprints are complete–production is feasible. Ask him for the details,” Li Yahong replied succinctly.
Wu Heng nodded. “Alright, I’ll call Gao Rong.”
“Okay.”
Ending the call, Wu Heng contacted Gao Rong next.
The conversation revolved around the bomb. In simple terms, it would release an infrasound cloud creating a cognitive magnetic field with a 300-meter diameter upon detonation. This would cause those within range to experience intense sensory projections, rendering them unconscious or disoriented.
As the blueprints were complete, production was indeed possible.
Wu Heng instructed him to assemble a dedicated team to take charge of the project.
After Gao Rong agreed, the call concluded.
This type of weapon definitely seemed promising.
Skeletons, being devoid of senses, would not be affected by sensory projections, unconsciousness, or disorientation.
When used right, it could incapacitate all living beings, leaving the Skeletons to clean up the battlefield.
It had excellent potential when properly utilized.
By then, Xiao Xiao and Bella approached. “Uncle, are you done talking?”
“Yes. How’s the Zombie side?” Wu Heng raised his head.
With excitement in her voice, Xiao Xiao replied, “Two Zombies over there have reached Level 20. We can get new Skeletons!”
Bella smiled and added, “Since two have reached Level 20, the others should be close as well.”
Many Zombies had been brought in simultaneously. Now that two had reached Level 20, it was likely the others weren’t far behind either.
“Come on, let’s go check it out.”
Walking with the Ghosts into the prison area, they killed the Zombies that had reached Level 20 and used a skill to convert them into Skeletons.
[Spiritual Corpse Boxer (Level 20)][Spirit Corpse Warrior (Level 20)]
This time, one of the new Skeletons was a Boxer.
“Xiao Xiao, name them–keep it simple,” Wu Heng said to her.
Glenda chimed in from the side, “Make it easy on your uncle. He’s bad with complex names.”
“Oh!” Xiao Xiao nodded and asked, “Uncle, what are their professions?”
“One’s a warrior, the other’s a boxer.”
“Then, the warrior will be called No.2 Pot Lid, and the boxer will be called Sandbag Boxing,” Xiao Xiao said with a thoughtful pose.
“Alright, you’ll be No.2 Pot Lid, and you’ll be Sandbag Hero.”
…
Gold and Silver Island, casino restaurant.
Retili, dressed in a wine-red evening gown and holding a wine glass, exuded elegance and poise as she conversed with others.
Tonight was the Snake Badge Consortium’s celebration banquet, taking over the entire venue to celebrate the success of the auction.
After speaking briefly with an elderly gentleman, Retili’s gaze shifted toward ‘Rostand,’ who was not far away.
He was the local Consortium representative.
Retili hesitated momentarily before walking over. “Mr. Rostand, I’d like to have a word with you.”
The man turned and smiled. “Miss Retili, no need for formalities. After tonight, your influence in the Emerald Sea region will see a significant boost.”
“It’s thanks to everyone’s support.” Retili sipped her fruit wine and then softly added, “There’s something I’d like to discuss with you.”
Rostand raised an eyebrow. “Go ahead. If it’s within my abilities, I’m more than happy to assist.”
Retili hesitated again before finally steeling herself. “I want to stay on Gold and Silver Island…”
