Chapter 1252: Chapter 931, It’s Good to Be Open and Aboveboard_2
“You should work hard too, you might have a chance.”
“Really?” The little maid’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Of course.”
Wu Heng and Shanaela sat down at the dining table and began eating dinner.
After eating a simple meal,
they returned to the living room and sat back down.
The three of them drank tea for a while. The Fifth Princess occasionally glanced over, paused in thought, and finally said, “Leader, I heard that ‘Clifford’ has also signed a mutual defense agreement with you.”
Clifford was the Second Prince’s name. To outsiders, it appeared that the Second Prince had signed an agreement with Lundham City.
And since Lundham City was Wu Heng’s territory, it seemed like Wu Heng was supporting the Second Prince.
Shanaela glanced at the two without speaking further. Wu Heng said, “Indeed, I signed a mutual defense agreement with the Second Prince. The wars in the north are relentless, and this is the only way to end them.”
The Fifth Princess raised her head, took a deep breath, and asked, “Are you planning to help him become the new king?”
Previously, supporting someone to reclaim the Yeko Kingdom seemed challenging.
But now Wu Heng was the leader; storming into the Royal Palace at night and taking down the Crown Prince wasn’t even a problem anymore.
“What are your thoughts?” Wu Heng looked at her.
The Fifth Princess lowered her head again, avoiding his gaze. Softly, she said, “Clifford only indulges in pleasures. Even if he retakes the throne, he won’t focus on the affairs of the state and will eventually lead the kingdom into decline.”
Her expression grew serious. “I’m more suited for the position, and you promised me first. I should be the priority.”
By the end, her tone carried a hint of childish defiance.
Shanaela smiled slightly–still just a child.
Wu Heng continued, “You think you’re stronger than the Second Prince?”
“I’m definitely stronger than him. Just in academics, I’m leagues ahead of him. Moreover, if I work hard, I’ll unquestionably perform better.” The Fifth Princess raised her eyes cautiously to glance his way and whispered, “I’m also more obedient.”
Wu Heng looked at her for a moment and then asked, “Shanaela, what do you think?”
Shanaela sat up straight, sensing the conversation had shifted to her.
She replied earnestly, “I think ‘Brittany’ is better suited for the throne. That Second Prince has unclear ties with the Secret Cultivation Hall, not to mention the numerous unsavory habits rumored about him. Other than being a man, he doesn’t have a single quality like a Corpse Core that qualifies him for the throne. Putting him in power might not be a problem short-term, but long-term, there will be endless troubles.”
The Second Prince was already dead. If Wu Heng truly wanted to take over the Yeko Kingdom, his only option was supporting the Fifth Princess.
But Shanaela didn’t know this yet and was still treating the matter as a serious analysis.
Hearing Shanaela support her, the Fifth Princess’s eyes lit up.
She cast her a glance of “See? We really are the best team.”
Shanaela appeared not to notice and continued, “Unless, of course, you force the Second Prince to sign a Slavery Contract, making him a puppet king. Then his abilities wouldn’t matter.”
The Fifth Princess’s eyes widened, clearly taken aback by Shanaela’s blunt suggestion.
She quickly chimed in, “I would sign too, and I’m doing it willingly.”
Shanaela raised her brows slightly, a playful smile emerging as she looked at Wu Heng. “Then I’d recommend ‘Brittany.’ She’s absolutely trustworthy, eager to learn, and far better than the Second Prince.”
Wu Heng’s eyes widened.
Well, now–in one stroke, the Fifth Princess was being offered a Life Contract option.
“I do have high hopes for you. Let’s see how you perform,” Wu Heng said with a smile.
The Fifth Princess’s eyes glimmered. “Great! I won’t let you down.”
Wu Heng nodded and pulled a phone out of his Space Ring, handing it to her. “Take this. Contact me and Shanaela if anything comes up.”
“Contact? What does that mean?” The Fifth Princess looked at the device with confusion.
Shanaela sat up, picked up the phone, and said, “I’ll teach you–it’s simple.”
She pulled the Fifth Princess down to sit beside her and began explaining.
Thanks to prior exposure to wireless radios, these phones weren’t too difficult to grasp. A couple of tries were enough for her to get the hang of it.
Beyond calling, features like photo-taking and video recording were still marvels in this world.
The Fifth Princess and her attendant both stared wide-eyed, filled with awe.
The sky darkened.
Wu Heng returned to his bedroom, lying on the bed and waiting for a while.
He received a text from Shanaela: “The Fifth Princess has gone back.”
Wu Heng got up, released the **Teleportation Technique** and teleported to Shanaela’s bedroom.
The two played around on the bed for a while before falling asleep in each other’s embrace.
…
The next morning.
The City Lord’s Mansion’s carriage arrived near the shop in the Central District.
The shop sign had already been taken down, and the doors were open, revealing the remaining furniture inside.
Wu Heng, Shanaela, and the Fifth Princess walked into the building together.
They began surveying the place.
The main hall was relatively spacious, but if they wanted to convert it into a church hall, the rooms on either side would have to be demolished to create more space.
Knocking on the partition wall, it turned out to be wooden–it should be easy to dismantle.
Having confirmed the hall’s location, they explored further inside. The structure was well-built and suitable as the site for a city church.
As they spoke, a commotion erupted at the entrance.
The skeletons guarding the door stepped aside, opening a path for a middle-aged man who hurried in. He first glanced at Wu Heng and Shanaela, who both wore hooded cloaks, and greeted them politely with a smile and nod.
Then he bowed deeply toward the Fifth Princess. “Your Highness.”
The Fifth Princess nodded and said, “I plan to build a church here. Here’s the style and internal layout. Go back and draft the plans.”
She handed him a design sketch.
The middle-aged man took a look and nodded, “Understood. I’ll start preparing immediately.”
The Fifth Princess continued, “How long will it take?”
“Five days to produce the full plan!”
The Fifth Princess glanced at Wu Heng before saying, “Five days is too long. Give me the result in three days.”
The man gritted his teeth. “Alright, three days–a final version!”
“Go prepare!”
With another bow, the man turned and left.
The Fifth Princess remarked, “Three days will do.”
“Handle it on your end, and just call me once you’re ready,” Wu Heng said plainly.
He obviously wouldn’t stay around for several days.
After giving his instructions, he prepared to leave.
“Alright.”
As they left the shop, Wu Heng suggested, “Let’s head to the commercial street.”
The Fifth Princess replied, “I need to go to the association to coordinate the renovation efforts. I won’t be joining you.”
“Who’s running the association now?” Wu Heng asked.
“Elder Tapani and Dean Gianvito,” she answered.
“Give Dean Gianvito a message–I’ll visit him later.”
“Understood.” The Fifth Princess departed with her attendant for the association.
Wu Heng, Shanaela, and the skeleton attendant flagged a carriage and headed towards the port’s commercial street.
…
At the commercial street.
The two stepped off the carriage, walking hand in hand like a pair of love-struck newlyweds.
“It feels good to be open about it,” Shanaela said cheerfully.
Wu Heng chuckled, “Why care about what others think?”
“That’s easy for you to say.” Shanaela playfully swung his hand as they walked.
They wandered from one shop to another, browsing everything in sight. Shanaela kept an eye out for the prices of goods in Netalee City.
“Sir, why not buy your wife a bouquet of flowers?” a vendor casually suggested.
Shanaela’s eyes lit up. She turned and said, “Buy one.”
Wu Heng paid and picked out a bouquet of red flowers.
Another old woman approached, “How about a scarf for your wife?”
Shanaela said, “Buy one.”
Several nearby vendors gathered, enthusiastically promoting their wares.
Before long, they were loaded down with bags and packages.
Dragging Shanaela out of the crowd, Wu Heng led them away, briskly escaping.
For the rest of their stroll, they didn’t buy a single item pitched to them. Shanaela carried the flowers with a radiant smile.
Ring~ Ring~!
The phone rang–it was a call from the Fifth Princess.
Looks like she’d mastered how to use it.
“Leader!”
“Yes, I’m here,” Wu Heng replied.
“Leader, Dean Gianvito wants to meet you. Please choose a time. Also, Elder Tapani and other association members wish to meet with you,” the Fifth Princess informed him.
Wu Heng glanced at Shanaela, who considered for a moment before suggesting, “Prepare a dinner party at the Island Lord’s Mansion and invite everyone there.”
Wu Heng nodded and said into the phone, “We’ll host an evening banquet at the mansion. Have them arrive promptly.”
