Chapter 27: Car Explosion

The happiness in Fu Qing’s heart was palpable. Hearing the words, “You don’t have to worry about the Zhan family” had shattered her heart in pieces, but she was now at ease.

“I know,” she admitted as she gently took Zhan Qi’s hand in hers. “You’re only concerned about my safety, which I’m grateful for.”

Zhan Qi let go of her hand and squeezed her shoulder, saying, “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you no matter what.”

Fu Qing grabbed the chance to lean back on the passenger seat and look in his eyes.

They calmly held hands, taking in the relaxed atmosphere and enjoying the tranquility.

Suddenly, from the side of the road, a little boy appeared from nowhere and crossed the street.

“Watch out!” Fu Qing exclaimed, as she noticed the boy in front of them.

He was around the age of six or seven. He was focused on picking up the small ball that had rolled to the middle of the road, completely ignoring the speeding car.

Zhan Qi, fortunately, was on high alert and had quick reflexes. He kept his cool and slammed on the brakes forcefully.

The car screeched to a halt just a foot away from the child.

The boy was so terrified that he slumped in front of the car and sobbed heavily.

Fu Qing leaped from the car and clutched the child, nervously inspecting him from head to toe. Except for a minor scratch on the surface of his leg, he was unharmed.

Zhan Qi frowned as he sat behind the driver’s seat, gripping the steering wheel.

He parked his car on the side of the road, turned off the engine, and got out.
