The little boy immediately stopped crying after the car explosion, as if the loud blast had scared him so much that he jumped out of his skin.

“Hey, tough guy, are you okay?” Fu Qing asked. His expression was one of complete concern.

With a shake of his head, the young boy remained silent.

Fu Qing’s worried expression became more pronounced. “Can I send you home? Where are your parents?”

The little boy only shrugged, and his head swung in a slow, side-to-side motion.

“Look, there’s a police officer here. I can ask him to drive you home.”

The little boy burst into tears again and screamed, “I’m not going home! Don’t take me there!” when he heard this.

“Excuse me, sir,” Fu Qing said helplessly to the traffic policeman. “This little boy was playing alone on the road when we saw him. We don’t know him or where he lives. Please help us locate his parents.”

“I’m not leaving; I don’t want to go with the cops,” the little boy cried, clinging to Fu Qing’s arm.

The traffic policeman was too powerless to intervene.

When he got close to Fu Qing, he noticed the little boy cowering behind her in fear, refusing to let him get too close. “I think he trusts you more than us,” he said to Fu Qing, “so why don’t you bring him back to your house first? I’ll put up a missing notice and come back to get him once we find his parents.”

“I suppose so. It’s also the only solution I can think of right now,” Fu Qing sighed, her gaze falling on the little booger skulking behind her.

“I apologize for the inconvenience, Mr. and Mrs. Zhan, but please understand that we are still conducting a full investigation into this matter. In the meantime, we will return the car to the police station for a more thorough inspection.”

Zhan Qi had no objections after hearing this explanation. “Certainly. Please do everything you can to resolve this matter.”

“Can you come along with us to the station to give us your statement, Mr. Zhan?” one police officer inquired.

Zhan Qi, who happened to turn around, caught Fu Qing’s gaze.

“Bring him home and wait for me. I’ll send a driver to get you.”

“Everything’s ging to be fine. Don’t worry,” he added with a reassuringly smile.

Fu Qing smiled back at him.

Fu Qing waited for the driver on the sidewalk with the little boy after Zhan Qi and the traffic cops had left.

“What’s your name?” she inquired, her gaze falling on the little boy.

He appeared to come back to life after the officers had left. He playfully patted his small ball and looked up at her. “My name is Little Treasure,” he said coolly.

Fu Qing rubbed the top of his head with her hand and smiled warmly down at him. “Can you finally tell me where your home is, now that there is no one else here?”

After hearing her question, Little Treasure was in a bad mood once more. He averted his gaze and ignored her.

When Fu Qing saw his reaction, she pleaded for mercy as quickly as he could. “All right, forget it. I will not ask any more questions. Don’t be mad.”

Little Treasure burst out laughing and dashed back to Fu Qing.

His fit of pique changed so fast, and Fu Qing could only smile bitterly at this.

With an impish grin on his face, Little Treasure tugged at the corner of Fu Qing’s blouse. “Can I ask you who that man was just now? Is he your boyfriend?”

The light in Fu Qing’s eyes softened a little when Zhan Qi was brought up. “He’s not my boyfriend. He’s my husband,” she explained.

Little Treasure sulked restlessly. “Why did you have to get married so young and so quickly? I want to marry you when I grow up.”

“What? Haha!” Fu Qing grinned and patted Little Treasure’s head once more.

“You’re such a funny and naughty kid.”

Fu Qing waved to the driver as he approached them.

“Little Treasure, I’d like to invite you over to my house to play. Is that okay?”

He smiled and nodded enthusiastically. “Sure, that’d be great.”

He gaped in astonishment, and his face brightened at the sight of the car approaching. “Wow, that’s a Ferrari! I didn’t realize you were so wealthy.”

Fu Qing smiled, unsure of how to respond. Her family may be rich, but this was owned by Zhan Qi.

“I’ve already asked my helper to prepare a lot of delicious food for us, and I’ll make sure you get to try everything when we get home later, okay?”
