Zhan Qi could hear nothing but the wild thumping of his heart.

Was this what it felt like to be at home? Her aura looked warm and homely.

“It’s nothing. Let’s go in.” Zhan Qi brought his attention gently back to Little Treasure and tried to hide his elation.

Just for today, he didn’t want to portray the role of the Zhan family’s third young master. Instead, he was just a regular guy and a husband enjoying some time off with his wife.

Little Treasure, on the other hand, refused to work together with him and spoiled the fun. “Big Brother made it clear to me that he wanted to surprise you.”

“Oh, really? What kind of surprise?” Fu Qing’s face creased into a sudden smile.

To hide the distress on his face, Zhan Qi coughed discreetly. “It’s nothing,” he mumbled. “Let’s go inside first, now that we have the tickets.”

Little Treasure gushed, “Big Brother said you rescued him before, so to show his appreciation, he prepared a surprise dinner for you two!”

“Is that so?” Fu Qing was taken aback by Little Treasure’s utterance and erupted into laughter.

“Wasn’t it every day that we ate dinner together? Besides, when did I come to your rescue?”

For the first time that day, Zhan Qi felt uncomfortable. “If I hadn’t followed you outside, I wouldn’t have been so fortunate to come out alive after the car blew up,” he remarked after a moment’s consideration.

Little Treasure tugged on Fu Qing’s blouse and urged her to hunch down so she could whisper in her ear. “Big Brother wants to treat you to a romantic candlelit dinner in a hotel,” he whispered in her ear. It will just be the two of you inside a private room. I think Big Brother has something he wants to say to you.”

Fu Qing felt the heat mount in her cheeks when she realized she had been staring at Zhan Qi the entire time with an inexplicable feeling.

“Sure. Let’s have dinner outside for a change. But what about Little Treasure?” Her gaze traveled down to Little Treasure in delight.

Little Treasure remarked with a grin, “I’ll stay at home and play video games in my bedroom. I won’t be joining your date.”

There were various activities for parents and children to choose from in this place. There was also a refreshment alley where they grabbed some snacks. Before traveling back to the villa, the three of them played ceaselessly until late in the afternoon.

“I’m too exhausted today, so I’ll go to sleep early. Good night, brother and sister,” said the little boy.

Little Treasure dashed upstairs, clutching his newly purchased gaming console and locking his bedroom door carefully.

The dining area was filled with soothing classical music. Zhan Qi lifted his wineglass to Fu Qing as he poured red wine into the goblet in front of him.

He promptly stated, “Thank you for today and for all the time you’ve invested in me.”

Fu Qing was baffled and looked at him with surprise. “What are you thanking me for?”

Zhan Qi gazed at her warmly and replied, “Thank you for making me feel the love and warmth of a family. Also, I’m sorry for what I said earlier.”

Fu Qing suddenly remembered something. Was it because she didn’t have to be concerned about the Zhan Family?

She admitted that although that statement was hurtful, it wasn’t entirely wrong. There was nothing for him to apologize about.

“It’s all right. I already got your point. You are not compelled to apologize to me.”

Zhan Qi got out of his seat and moved up to Fu Qing’s side, embracing her. His arms were solid and strong around her.

“You are my wife,” he said. “I should accept you completely and treat you as though you were a part of my life.”

Fu Qing’s nostrils quivered in discomfort after hearing his words.

She got what he was saying.

“Really?” Her voice dropped almost to a whisper.

Zhan Qi nodded with a taut jerk of his head, and his eyes confronted her quietly. “Really..”
