Chapter 320: Chapter 317 Morning Sickness
Sang Yan had no choice but to stretch her neck and kiss the corner of his lips.
It was a touch so gentle it was almost not a touch at all.
Wuya was very dissatisfied, “Is this it? Are you trying to fool me?”
Tears welled up in Sang Yan’s eyes, streaming down her face.
Wuya loved her tears, he reached out to wipe them away, tasted them in his mouth, and said with a malicious smile, “Do you know, Sang Yan, I really enjoy it when you make mistakes.”
His tone was frivolous and wicked, “Tell me, if you don’t make mistakes, how would I find reasons to punish you?”
“Shameless!”
Sang Yan was too furious, and she raised her hand to slap him.
Of course, she didn’t succeed.
He caught her hand in time, his lips curled into a smile, his tone rising playfully, “Yanyan, are you looking to make another mistake?”
Sang Yan was so stifled that she couldn’t continue her assault.
She fiercely shook off his hand, covered her face, and turned her head away.
She felt completely powerless in such a situation!
It seemed she could only cry.
Tears dropped one by one.
Like sparkling jewels.
He watched her weep peacefully, his expression sorrowful, evoking a sense of pity.
“Stop crying. Otherwise, I would find another way to make you cry enough.”
He was threatening again and then grabbed her hand, pointed to his lips as a reminder, “Keep going. Don’t think about fooling me.”
He hadn’t had enough of her kisses.
Sang Yan had no other choice but to acquiesce.
But she truly hated him so much.
In her heart, she was determined, and on her lips, she was fierce, deliberately using her teeth as she kissed him.
She genuinely wanted to bite him to death!
Yet, he thoroughly enjoyed her biting.
Blood flowed out.
He didn’t care and bit her back.
More blood followed.
The taste was salty and metallic.
Sang Yan was so repulsed she felt like vomiting.
“Ugh–”
She pushed him away and leaned over the soft couch, making a retching motion.
Seeing this, Wuya’s face turned dark instantly, “Sang… Yan! How dare you!”
In that moment, the desire to strangle her surged within him.
To vomit at this time was the greatest insult to him!
Sang Yan knew she had once again hurt his pride and that there would be no good outcome; she immediately cried out with teary eyes, “Morning sickness! This is morning sickness!”
Even if she was indeed disgusted by intimacy with him, she couldn’t show it.
Morning sickness was a good excuse.
It also effectively reduced his anger and murderous intent.
“You had better be!”
He roared in anger and shouted outside, “Someone! Call the Imperial Physician!”
While waiting for the Imperial Physician to arrive, he brought her some tea and took a handkerchief to wipe her mouth.
He had no desire to kiss anymore.
At least for the next few days, he wouldn’t entertain the idea.
“I’m sorry.”
Sang Yan took a sip of tea, recovered from the nausea, and reluctantly apologized, “I… I really didn’t mean to.”
Her tear-streaked face was pitiful.
Wuya didn’t believe her and looked at her with a cold, predatory gaze, like a lurking evil wolf.
Sang Yan moved her eyes away with fear and trepidation and silently shed tears.
It wasn’t long before the Imperial Physician arrived.
He was the same old doctor who had previously treated Sang Yan’s pregnancy.
“Greetings, Emperor–”
Wu Youzhi set down his medicine chest, knelt, and kowtowed in salute.
Wuya’s face was stern as he gestured, “Rise. Check on her. She suddenly vomited just now.”
Seeing the familiar doctor, Sang Yan’s tension eased somewhat.
She didn’t dare to imagine what punishment Wuya would inflict upon her if she had been examined by another Imperial Physician and found not to be experiencing morning sickness!
She was petrified of this madman!
This fear was a deep-seated terror that penetrated her bones.
“Ugh–”
She pretended to retch again, hinting to him, “Please forgive me, old sir. I feel a bit nauseous.”
Wu Youzhi nodded, said nothing, and laid out the pulse pillow, signaling her to place her hand upon it.
Sang Yan then placed her hand out, her heart filled with trepidation, unsure of the well-being of the child inside her.
Doctor Wu examined her pulse carefully.
During this time, no one spoke.
Wuya watched closely, once again contemplating the idea of the child being miscarried.
Why had he gone soft at that moment?
One false step led to another.
This child had taken the place of his own and caused him much trouble.
“My lady, you must avoid distressing thoughts, the child is not yet stable.”
After examining her pulse, Doctor Wu gave his conclusion, “As for the morning sickness, it’s normal. At meal times, choose appetizing, light, and easy-to-digest foods. Eat smaller meals more frequently.”
Seeing that he hadn’t exposed her trick, Sang Yan smiled and said, “Doctor Wu, thank you.”
She developed a great fondness for Doctor Wu.
A benefactor who had rescued her from peril time and again.
Wuya harbored different thoughts, though.
“It should be Imperial Doctor Wu.”
He coldly clarified Wu Youzhi’s title.
Since he had entered the Imperial Palace, he belonged to him.
But he didn’t seem to have this realization.
What a muddleheaded old fool!
Not wanting to cause trouble for Doctor Wu, Sang Yan went along with Wuya’s words, “Imperial Doctor Wu, thank you.”
From the corner of his eye, Wu Youzhi caught a glimpse of the Emperor’s expression and offered a faint smile, “You’re welcome.”
He then bowed towards Wuya and quickly left with his medical kit.
He didn’t want to serve these nobles either!
But what could he do?
Under someone’s roof, one has to bow one’s head!
Sang Yan also lowered her head, uttering pleasant words, “It’s dark already. The Emperor has returned from the funeral, after much exertion. Are you hungry? Shall I have a meal brought?”
“Are you hungry?”
Thinking of Wu Youzhi’s recommendation for “eating smaller meals more frequently,” Wuya nodded without waiting for a reply, “Hmm. Bring the meal.”
A Palace Attendant immediately went to order the meal.
Dinner was quickly served on the table.
Dishes were arranged full to the brim.
Originally pretending to vomit, Sang Yan actually vomited once seated at the table.
“Gag–gag–”
She vomited until tears streamed down her face.
Wuya had initially doubted her, but now, he truly believed.
After all, the smell of vomit was not pleasant.
He frowned, covering his nose, watching as Palace Attendants bustled in and out, cleaning up the mess on the floor.
“I–I didn’t mean to… I didn’t do it on purpose… Gag…”
Covering her mouth, she vomited again mid-sentence.
Wuya saw her suffering, squinted his eyes, and focused on her belly.
The child really shouldn’t be kept!
Constantly reminding everyone of its presence.
What a way to court death!
“It’s not the child’s fault. It’s my body that’s the problem.”
Sang Yan, sensing Wuya’s murderous intent, looked defensive and shielded her belly, too scared to vomit any longer.
But suppressing the urge to vomit was also uncomfortable.
The struggle contorted her face.
Wuya saw this, irritably averted his gaze, and ordered the removal of the dining table.
With no more smell of food in the hall, Sang Yan felt a bit better.
However, that relief was short-lived before she felt hunger.
Her stomach growled.
The hall was really quiet.
Wuya heard it clearly and almost laughed in annoyance, “This child… really knows how to cause a stir!”
What a nuisance, it would be better off dead!
Hearing the undertone in his words, Sang Yan shrank back, whispering, “No, it’s not. It has nothing to do with the child, nothing at all.”
Wuya snorted coldly, flung his sleeves, and strode out.
One thing after another was exhausting his patience!
He didn’t want to see Sang Yan any longer, out of sight, out of mind; yet as he passed by her, she flinched.
“That afraid of me?”
Wuya paused his stride, feeling both anger and a sense of loss inside–What did she have to be afraid of? Other than threatening her, had he lifted a finger against her? What more did he have to do?
He wanted to burst out in rage, but seeing her weak and panicked, he held back, “Forget it. Being afraid is good. Stay in line if you’re afraid. Especially that thing in your belly.”
