Zhong Niangyao smiled lightly and did not respond to the female ghost’s words. Instead, she started chanting.

“I don’t,” Bai Wuchang responded automatically, then realizing his reply was too quick, he slowed his tone, “Just curious.”

“Is that so?” Zhong Niangyao narrowed her eyes then relaxed, unsure whether to believe him or not, her gaze shifted back to the female ghost, “Then I’ll have to trouble Lord Bai.”

Bai Wuchang had returned to his usual spooky demeanor, nodding, “It is within my duties.”

Watching herself about to be taken to hell for trial, the female ghost grew desperate, struggling and starting to curse at Zhong Niangyao, “You deceitful woman, you aren’t keeping your promise, you clearly said–”
“I said I wouldn’t make a move.” Zhong Niangyao replied coolly, “Do you see me making a move? I haven’t done anything; I just invited the Netherworld Messenger here. What happens between you and him has nothing to do with me.”

“You’re tricking me!”

By now, what else was there for the female ghost not to understand?

“I am not tricking you!” Zhong Niangyao shook her head, “I have kept my promise; you handle things between yourselves. And of course, if you can escape from Lord Bai’s grasp, I won’t help catch you.”

That is, if the female ghost had the ability to do so.

The female ghost continued to struggle fiercely, but with a gentle flick of his finger, Bai Wuchang made her tremble as if she had been electrified.
