Chapter 15: She Was Alone

After he finished his work, he went downstairs and saw that Gu Xiang was on an IV there. She was lying down on a sofa, looking haggard. When other patients came for infusion, they were accompanied by family members. She was the only one who did not have her other half, her parents, or any friends with her. She was all alone.

He always felt that whichever lady he had a relationship with would never end up in a good state. Now, even he was afraid.

He saw that the chemicals in her infusion bottle were gone but Gu Xiang didn’t notice that. Jiang Chi walked over.

The nurse looked at him and said, “President Jiang?”

Jiang Chi seldom showed up and people only saw him a few times a year. The nurse thought something was wrong because he suddenly appeared.

Jiang Chi’s expression was indifferent and cold. He gave off a very distant vibe and people didn’t dare to take many looks at him lest they offend him.

Jiang Chi pointed at the IV. “The fluid’s used up.”

The nurse looked at it and changed the pack for Gu Xiang quickly. Gu Xiang slept for a while but she did not really dare to fall asleep. After all, she was on an IV drip and when she heard movement, she looked up to see Jiang Chi standing before her.

The nurse reached out and removed the IV pack. Then, she said, “Come with me.”

Gu Xiang followed her and felt strange but she did not question it.

The nurse led her into a lounge for IV patients and pointed her to a hospital bed, saying, “You can rest here.”

“How lovely!” Gu Xiang was a little surprised. The nurse had even found her a special spot.

Gu Xiang lay down on the bed. It was way comfier than sitting on the sofa outside.

The nurse covered her with a blanket and asked, “Oh, so you are President Jiang’s relative! I was wondering why President Jiang came down today, he doesn’t do so usually.”

Gu Xiang was surprised. “Oh really?”

So Jiang Chi had arranged this for her?

The nurse said, “Yeah! He’s busy and he isn’t in charge of this area. President Jiang is well known in our hospital. He’s very impressive and good-looking too. I wonder what kind of lady would be lucky enough to have a man like him.”
