Chapter 250: Chapter 250: I Demand a Door
Chen Ke sprang up from the muddy ground, casting all his previous thoughts aside.
Sleery was startled awake by the explosion and, gripping her gun, hurried out to see Chen Ke crouching on the ground.
“Get down!” Chen Ke yelled.
Sleery subconsciously obeyed the command, throwing herself onto the steps, and in the next instant, a bullet tore through the night sky and shattered the cabin’s glass.
Chen Ke realized they were surrounded.
The enemy had used a rocket launcher to destroy their means of transport and then sent snipers from different directions to ambush them.
It seemed that when Si’s consortium decided to kill a person, cost was no concern.
How could a Spiritual Business have so many assassins?
Chen Ke grabbed Sleery’s wrist and pulled her aside, both of them crouching and hiding in the woods behind the cabin.
“How did they… Lin Ke, no one should know we’re here…” Sleery asked as they ran.
“There’s only one possibility, your father revealed it,” Chen Ke answered.
Sleery did not want to believe her own father would use her as bait for escape, but the events unfolding before her made it impossible to question Chen Ke’s statement.
“There must be more than twenty of them in these woods,” Chen Ke said.
In his vision, the blue woods were filled with red human outlines; they must have been equipped with night vision goggles, allowing them to quickly pinpoint their location.
The car explosion a moment ago had exposed Chen Ke, and the sniper had taken a shot at Sleery, which is why Chen Ke’s suit attribute could not be utilized now, he must hide once again.
However, while he could hide, Sleery could not.
But Chen Ke was not worried; he had a significant advantage, which was Spiritual Vision and Killing Aura Radar, with both working in tandem, all enemies were visible before his eyes.
Life was ticking away at a rate of 10 minutes per second, but in fact, these assassins were mere mortals, their attacks limited to conventional firearms, making them easy prey for Chen Ke.
However, the countdown on life underestimated the threat of enemies; it only compared their Energy Level and the strength of Holy Relics to Chen Ke’s, ignoring factors like numbers and strategic advantage.
With so many assassins attacking, if each of them fired a burst at Chen Ke, it would be the end of him, even if he could resurrect once, it would just be dying another time over, so Chen Ke could not afford to be careless.
The only weapon he had was a Glock with not many bullets left; he could not possibly kill all the assassins and did not intend to do so.
The Crystal Gun was powerful, but as soon as Chen Ke raised his hand, he would undoubtedly become the sole focus of fire in the dark forest, making getting shot inevitable, so he needed to choose the right moment to use it.
Sleery’s current mood was very low; Chen Ke understood that feeling, as betrayal and abandonment by one’s relatives were hard to accept.
Chen Ke could only pull Sleery along and run outside under the cover of night; with the enemy equipped with night vision goggles, locking in on them was not particularly difficult.
Groups of assassins were converging on their location, using silenced weapons; bullets fell like silent death, hitting the trees and the mud around Chen Ke and Sleery.
“Are we going to die here?” Sleery looked at Chen Ke and asked. She had taken off her sunglasses since wearing them at night was like being blind, seeing nothing at all.
“No,” Chen Ke said calmly, his tone carrying 100% certainty.
Although Sleery did not know where Chen Ke’s confidence came from, his words gave her some peace of mind.
“But you have to be prepared… The place I’m taking you to is even more dangerous than here,” Chen Ke said.
Under such circumstances, unless one could fly, escape was impossible, but Chen Ke had other methods, and now he had to use that method.
“What do you mean…?” asked Sleery.
“Stay close to me, grab my hand, and don’t leave my side. Once we get there, whatever I tell you to do, just do it, no questions asked. Understood?” Chen Ke ordered.
“Okay… I’ll listen to you…” Sleery replied, holding Chen Ke’s hand.
At that instant, a red dot suddenly appeared before Sleery’s eyes. The dot was spinning rapidly, and with a whoosh, it expanded from the center, growing into a 2-meter-high Teleportation Gate.
Through this Teleportation Gate stretched a path suspended over the Abyss, with steep mountain walls all around. It seemed this path was located inside a large mountain…
Chen Ke, holding onto Sleery, stepped through the gate, and the Teleportation Gate immediately disappeared behind them. In the dark forest, the fleeing man and woman vanished, leaving behind only a large group of Assassins staring blankly at the spot.
It was Sleery’s first time stepping through a Teleportation Gate. Unprepared, as she steadied herself, she subconsciously touched her body, checking if any part of her had been cut off by the gate.
Chen Ke looked around. Unexpectedly, upon opening the Teleportation Gate to the Fan Hede Kingdom, the default path led to the cave imprisoning Faralis, rather than the external foothills they first entered. However, this also conveniently cut their journey short.
Brother Discouraged had once said that the Fan Hede Kingdom was a cycle where everything recurs. Areas were separated by invisible walls, and only by perfectly reenacting the events of a cycle in one area could the path to another area be opened.
Earlier, Chen Ke had freed Faralis and obtained her soul. Now, Faralis’s headless body was not in the spot where she’d been before.
Chen Ke guessed that either the cycle period had not yet arrived, or he had already completed the cycle for this area.
Sleery looked around nervously. She was unfamiliar with the surroundings and couldn’t quite pinpoint what was strange about the place.
“Uh… Lin Ke, where are we…?” Sleery asked, gripping Chen Ke’s hand tightly.
“This is not a good place…” Chen Ke answered truthfully.
“I can… contact someone I know to come get us… as long as you know what this place is called…” Sleery said while taking out her mobile phone, but soon frowned.
“Ah… idiot… no signal!” Sleery cursed.
“Sleery, listen. There are two choices now,” Chen Ke said gravely, looking at her.
Sleery didn’t understand what Chen Ke meant and stared blankly at him.
“First, stay here and wait for me to come back… Although this place isn’t normal, it’s safe as long as you don’t wander off, and I assure you, nobody will be able to find this place,” Chen Ke explained.
“Then I choose the second option…” Sleery said immediately.
“Um…” Chen Ke pondered, not expecting her to respond this way.
“Lin Ke, my father is being hunted, and I must find him no matter what. I can’t stay here alone,” Sleery declared determinedly.
“Even if he abandoned you?” Chen Ke asked.
“I don’t believe he would do that; I have to ask him face-to-face,” Sleery said.
“If that is true… I mean, if he really used you to buy time for his escape, what would you do?” Chen Ke inquired.
“I would do anything for him… Lin Ke, you don’t understand what he means to me. Even if that’s the case, I have no complaints, but at the very least, I want him to tell me it was his decision,” Sleery said, looking at Chen Ke.
“Are you out of your mind? If he really is using you as bait, wouldn’t you hate him?” Chen Ke asked, taking a deep breath and frowning.
“Lin Ke, without him, I wouldn’t be the person I am now; you wouldn’t understand,” Sleery shook her head and replied.
“Alright, this is your choice. I hope you’re ready…” Chen Ke shook his head.
He had originally planned to leave Sleery in the Fan Hede Kingdom, where time stood still, take care of Pankia, and then take her back, making up some lie about Pankia’s death.
However, the girl was determined to join Chen Ke. Since that was the case, he wouldn’t take Sleery to the Cathedral.
Having finally returned to Fan Hede, Chen Ke also wanted to see Parker, but with more urgent matters at hand and the inconvenience of bringing Sleery along, he didn’t want to explain too much to Parker and Sleery.
“By the way, Lin Ke… How can you open a Teleportation Gate?” Sleery suddenly asked.
“Because I said there should be a gate, so there was one,” Chen Ke said.
As soon as he spoke, another gate appeared before them, leading to a motel room where Louis and Rama were lying asleep on the bed.
