Chapter 944: Chapter 516: The First Business Deal Chapter 944: Chapter 516: The First Business Deal “Today’s Octopuses are still very happy. The new civilization hasn’t caused much of an impact here. There are signs of activity from the Octopus Elder, but the objective of this activity is unclear, and there is currently no need to increase manpower.”
After recording this sentence, the observer responsible for watching over Octopus Star sighed, feeling that even an octopus lived a better life than he did.
His civilization was a newly promoted one, still without its own mother star. All of its people lived on a massive warship, where every square meter housed three thousand inhabitants.
Before the promotion, they had been invincible in their own universe, having unified the basic principles of the four fundamental forces, and being fully prepared in all aspects.
They had solved the challenge of boiling water; energy transfer could finally be done without relying on matter, but with energy waves being transmitted without loss. This made the second class of perpetual motion machines a possibility.
Their weapons were incredibly advanced. The Causality Weapon allowed them to easily conquer their universe and rightfully become the supreme lords of the cosmos.
During this unprecedented Golden Age, they expanded as they had wished.
Upon learning of the existence of the Land of Dao Certification, they immediately decided to head there.
After nearly draining all the energy from their universe, they came to the Land of Dao Certification, cheering and ready to make waves, to provide an insignificant shock to the inhabitants there.
Then, they were educated.
The ones who educated them were not even a civilization, but rather the trash discarded by a civilization.
These illegally dumped wastes were encountered by sheer bad luck just as they arrived, directly crashing into it. The resulting force field damaged most functions of their warship, drastically worsening the heavenly conditions aboard due to malfunctions.
Afterward, the being responsible for dumping the trash was fined by its own civilization for the illegal disposal of hazardous waste. In compensation, they received a new reward–the star system where Octopus Star was located.
This star system was a forsaken place where not even birds would defecate, the only habitable place being Octopus Star. Everyone knew they were being fobbed off, but they had to accept it and even thank the other civilization.
There was no helping it; in this dark universe, strength was fundamental.
The fact that they hadn’t been blasted back to their old home with a single shot was already very benevolent.
But as soon as they stepped foot on Octopus Star, they were educated once more by the Octopuses, capable of producing Octopus Nuclear Bombs from underneath themselves, which thoroughly eroded their confidence. They only dared to gaze distantly at this planet they had been compensated with, licking their toothpaste-like rations and weeping as they comforted themselves.
When they saw the base of Xiemen Waidao and others emerge there, they originally thought these people would soon leave as well. But unexpectedly, they settled down.
However, after discovering that Xiemen Waidao and his group made no further moves, they did not dare to probe deeper, only hoping that both factions would be mutually injured, ultimately leaving them a small piece of land.
From being the unrivaled sovereigns of the cosmos to now pitiful wandering vagabonds, their experiences were indeed dramatic and terribly tragic.
But compared to those who were just promoted and immediately caught up in the gunfire of other civilizations, dying as easily as crushed mosquitoes, they were indeed far too lucky.
Remembering the past, the observer licked his own rations, feeling that today’s rations were too horrible, the barbs on his tongue feeling a bit sour.
After finishing this slovenly meal, the observer cleaned the fur on his body and then noticed some unusual movements on Octopus Star in front of him.
The enormous tentacle of the Octopus Elder gripped a sturdy room; then, with a sudden exertion of force, the Elder’s tentacle flung the room at an incredibly fast speed towards the warship.
The room wasn’t moving very fast; if nothing unexpected happened, it would soon be recaptured by the planet’s gravity and return to a distant point.
But unexpectedly, that’s precisely when it occurred.
An octopus burst out from the bottom of the room, its tentacles’ suckers firmly latching onto the room’s base. One free tentacle searched beneath its body, subsequently pulling out an unscientifically crafted nuclear bomb.
Next, the nuclear bomb exploded, and the resulting shockwave instantly accelerated the room, sending it towards the warship’s direction.
The observer had seen the Octopus Nuclear Bombs.
Frankly, the observer couldn’t even say for sure if it qualified as a nuclear bomb.
It indeed involved chain reactions, but after the explosion, there was no nuclear radiation, and its range was controllable.
Its power could be self-regulated; while potent enough to flatten a vast city, it could also be as small as the size of a firework.
What was more bizarre was that the Octopuses seemed to be able to precisely control the nuclear bomb’s damage to specific things while leaving others unharmed.
Adding to its mysteriousness was its inexplicable origin, as if it appeared out of nothing. All these strange characteristics made the Octopus Nuclear Bomb one of the most puzzling things to the observers.
But technology, when developed to its limit, is not much different from Magic; they couldn’t comprehend the Octopus Nuclear Bombs, which meant they were simply too weak.
Afterward, Octopuses began flying out from the room, with a nuclear bomb exploded for every one that appeared. Consequently, the room kept accelerating, and finally broke free from the planet’s gravitational pull, reaching the same orbital altitude as the warship.
