Madeleine’s eyes drifted briefly to where Howard Coleman was sitting as she heard the question, then she smiled cryptically and provided an ambiguous answer, “It’s bound to happen eventually, but there isn’t a set date yet.”

Before Andrew Henris came, Madeleine had already told him that she hoped he would pretend to be her boyfriend for a while. He had readily agreed, but deep down, he knew that Madeleine wanted him to act out this charade probably for the sake of a man she couldn’t let go of until now.

In fact, Andrew Henris had always been curious about who that person could be. He had tried asking Madeleine but since she didn’t want to talk about it, he had stopped inquiring further. However, at the dinner table, he kept an eye on Madeleine’s behavior, and when he saw her glance at Howard Coleman first while answering the marriage question, he knew then that the man she loved to the core was none other than him.

It was only at that moment that Andrew Henris suddenly realized why he had never met Howard but still found him familiar. He had seen Howard once in the restroom at the Summer Palace, where Howard had watched him for a long time.

At the time, Andrew Henris had wondered what was wrong with him, even checking the mirror to make sure everything was fine before flashing a friendly smile at Howard and leaving.

He hadn’t given that incident much thought afterward, but now, recalling everything, he understood that Howard had been staring at him that day because of Madeleine.

Perhaps, Howard had also gone to the Summer Palace because of Madeleine that day, right?
