Chapter 351: Chapter 350 Memory Decryption Work
Unlike the general public, during these past ten years, a large number of scientific researchers had been actively awake, feverishly studying the technology of an alien civilization.
The Badit Civilization, theoretically, is a third-level civilization with an abundance of technology slightly more advanced than humans, but so far humans have obtained only a small part of a commercial spaceship.
A commercial spaceship could not possibly carry all the technology of an entire civilization. Just like a human aircraft carrier, it wouldn’t sail around with all of civilization’s high-tech on board.
Moreover, many valuable items, especially the Bassard Ramjet Engine, which is essential for a third-level civilization, were completely destroyed by nuclear weapons! This was a source of regret for many scientists over and over again, a hundred times over.
Fortunately, humans had obtained that Black Box, after all, it hadn’t been a wasted effort.
There was much that could be referenced, but acquiring knowledge and actually utilizing it presented two different levels of difficulty, so the immense pressure naturally weighed heavily on the shoulders of scientists in various laboratories…
On the other hand, humans had also been attempting to decrypt the memories of the Badit people!
In fact, the interrogation of the Badit people had been going relatively smoothly, aside from a few stubborn individuals, most had been pacified.
But these guys, when questioned, would give just enough of an answer, without lying, but they would not do a single bit of extra work… There was no possibility of them showing any initiative.
Humans couldn’t and wouldn’t dare give them too much authority, even in the Virtual World.
That was an ethical dilemma…
So, it was more practical to directly decrypt their memories!
However, the key issue was that memory decryption was incredibly difficult; these memories were not static but living and dynamically changing. When intelligent life underwent Consciousness Upload, it was the whole neural network that was read. This kind of neural network, a complete blend of software and hardware, was not as clearly layered as that of a computer, undoubtedly increasing the difficulty of decryption.
And the difference between human and Badit brains was vast, making it impossible to draw on past experience.
Moreover, there were ethical and legal restrictions on human memory decryption, limiting the number of experiments, and even for the sake of safety in the Virtual Space, there was no need to fully decrypt human memories themselves.
So, this problem was exceedingly difficult…
Of course, it wasn’t impossible to start: As the Badit people continued to be active in the Virtual World and accumulated memories, more and more sample data was gathered, and finally, a series of small breakthroughs emerged. Starting from this small opening, more and more memories became detectable, more and more!
Until today, when from the special task force led by Professor Li Zhendong, bursts of wild laughter suddenly arose, making those uninformed think he had gone mad!
“Ha ha! Stunned, aren’t you, Old Zhang!”
“It’s true! This part of the neural network is responsible for language and memory, and even some spatial structures… It’s exquisite! What use are biologists, in the end, if it ultimately depends on Information Scientists?!”
“Hurry up and organize this, let’s see what interesting points are inside.”
This is the New Civilization Information Research Institute, the private room of Professor Li Zhendong.
Several students were standing behind, staring at the screen with their mouths agape. Seconds later, they erupted into excited screams and roars–their research team had actually cracked this incredibly difficult problem!
They continued to roar and celebrate for quite some time, so much so that even people from the neighboring research institute all crowded around.
All the memories that needed to be decrypted were provided by one stubborn Badit scientist, who was adamant about not serving humans no matter what!
Even after “Human Lackey” Prince Bart pleaded with him for a long time, he wouldn’t budge, so humans couldn’t really be blamed for not being polite.
“Although it’s only a small part of the memories, it’s still pretty good… I’m afraid if we keep decrypting, this guy might actually die! Hahaha! Right now, it’s just perfect, with many useful parts,” Li Zhendong gasped for breath, his face as red as a balloon, visibly beyond excited.
However, seeing so many onlookers crowding around, especially a group of cute girls from the next room, he put on an indifferent demeanor and arrogantly said, “Little Li, how about it? This is the strength of our research team… Haha, think about it, want to switch teams? We still need a mathematician specializing in neural networks. There’s so much to research in the future, and only by following a genius like me will you achieve more!”
Watching Li Zhendong blatantly headhunting in person, the female professor’s face turned from pale to red, only to drop a line, “Disrespecting your elders, who calls themselves a genius, you old cow trying to graze on fresh grass!”
Li Zhendong looked up, taking her comment as a compliment: “This time I am ahead, isn’t it? Truly a beautiful and artistic solution… Only a genius like me could have come up with it!”
Truth be told, Li Zhendong’s skin was quite thick!
The other girls in the laboratory were also blushing, unsure of what to say.
Professor Li certainly had first-rate talent, but he had one flaw: he was somewhat of a show-off, and he liked to flirt with girls.
Of course, this flirting was merely verbal, since the installation of Love Chips had virtually put an end to infidelity and the so-called “casting couch”…
The decryption solution for the Badit memories was quickly sent to the Unreal Laboratory. Soon after, Professor Yamamoto Ichiro’s team conducted scanning and processing on the memories of over two thousand Badit people, obtaining truly massive data!
And by massive, we mean massive–most of the memories were mundane daily life, such as which fruit tasted good; who was beautiful and should swap reproductive cells; and how ugly humans are, and so on…
Only a small part consisted of genuinely useful information. Some experts were already writing Artificial Intelligence programs to filter for the useful information, and an enormous project and challenge had begun!
…
Three months later.
“…From the foregoing deductions, we can easily identify the specific principle behind this material that generates magnetic fields. This high-intensity magnetic field generator is also the core material technology for the interstellar ramjet engine.”
“This precious information was extracted from the memories of a Badit named Ado Barbar. Unfortunately, we do not know how to manufacture this material, we only understand the principle of its creation. Even this Badit did not know how to create Super Magnet-A…”
“This is likely to be a large-scale project, which will require the combined efforts of everyone.”
On stage was the material scientist Dennis King, who was now beaming as he explained to the multitude of scientists below, “This means, precisely because of the emergence of this material that generates magnetic fields, it brings even greater possibilities… In fact, it can be used not only in the propulsion systems of spaceships but also in all aspects of industry.”
His voice grew louder and more passionate, “Unleash your imagination! Bigger magnetic fields, supermassive magnetic fields, 1000 teslas, even 5000 teslas–what can they be used for?”
