Chapter 1591: Section 1592 Demonic Fiend Laboratory
Wilderness of Dreams, a black fog zone thousands of miles away from Originheart City.
The so-called black fog zone is actually the breeding ground for Demonic Fiends.
There is a pure white metal building nearby, spherical in shape, with no windows visible at a glance, and only Magic Patterns representing absolute defense on the walls, to ward off the invasion of the black fog.
On the upper level of this building, there is an air harbor, housing several steam-styled mechanized airships, and like the building, these airships have no windows either.
When Angel arrived at the Wilderness of Dreams from the real world, he happened to see a mechanized airship flying towards the distance, heading towards Originheart City.
Angel walked up to the spherical building, and the smooth curving surface immediately opened up a passageway.
After walking into the passage, the interior was very bright and spacious, with silver-white metal and transparent glass everywhere. After walking along the quiet corridor for two minutes, Angel stopped in front of a room’s door.
No sooner had he pushed the door open than he heard Frode’s voice.
“The information on Demonic Fiend number 7 has been roughly recorded, thank you all for your hard work. However, our work for today is not yet finished; we still need to do a rough Photostone estimation of number 7 Demonic Fiend’s abilities. Now, let’s transfer number 7 Demonic Fiend to the simulated battlefield; it’s still best to have Tullas, who is adept with speed, conduct the test.”
“By the way, where is Tullas?”
As the words fell, no one answered.
After a while, someone said, “Lord Tyson, Sheriff Tullas previously mentioned that he found the laboratory a bit boring and wanted to go out to unwind, then he left. It seemed he went upstairs; we don’t have the authority to go up there and don’t know where he is.”
“Upstairs? That Tullas, really…” After cursing, Frode calmly said, “Wait a moment, I’ll go see where he is.”
But before Frode could leave, a voice said, “There’s no need to look for Tullas; he has already returned to Originheart City via the airship through the air harbor.”
Frode only heard a click, and the laboratory door closed. Turning around, he saw Angel walking in from the direction of the door.
“My lord, you’re back!” Frode’s eyes lit up as he greeted him.
Angel nodded at him, then looked towards the other people present.
Aside from Frode, there were seven others, all wearing white uniforms, some with measuring tools in hand, others operating experimental equipment, and some furiously writing with pens.
They were all researchers of the Demonic Fiend laboratory.
The Demonic Fiend laboratory is precisely this spherical building they are currently in, specially constructed by Angel for close-range study of Demonic Fiends.
Initially, only he and Frode were researching here, but recording information on Demonic Fiends, establishing related files, analyzing skills, conducting simulated battles… and so on were overly complex tasks. Until they could bring their abilities into reality, everything had to be done manually, leading to a very slow pace of recording information. To improve efficiency, Frode had recruited a group of researchers from Originheart City to come here.
With their help, the pace of recording accelerated several times.
The life here was actually very monotonous, but for these researchers, who could endure solitude in their daily lives, it was quite suitable indeed. Moreover, their research was meant to protect the citizens of Originheart City, with a noble cause at the forefront, they were willing to stay here.
Angel nodded at them, then turned to Frode to pick up the previous topic, “Since Tullas has left, I will take his place for the next simulated battle experiment. Coles, hand me the data on number 7 Demonic Fiend.”
Coles, a young researcher wearing glasses, immediately presented a stack of files.
The last time Angel had left the Demonic Fiend laboratory, the research had still been on Demonic Fiend number 5. To have progressed to number 7 in just two days was actually quite a fast pace.
Upon opening the file folder, the first thing that caught his eye was a quick sketch of a Demonic Fiend.
Angel had interacted with Coles several times in previous studies and was aware of his style. Coles was not supremely skilled in drawing; the Demonic Fiends he portrayed were not very lifelike, but he was very good at capturing their distinctive features.
“Looks like an anemone with a chrysanthemum face?” Angel whispered, “Looks quite cute.”
Upon hearing Angel’s words, everyone present shuddered. Recalling the appearance of No. 7 Demonic Fiend, they couldn’t feel any cuteness at all.
“Has a name been chosen for No. 7?” Angel asked while flipping through the information.
Colares: “For now it’s just a number…”
Frode: “My lord, although we haven’t settled on a name for No. 7 yet, I think we should not be too hasty.”
Angel looked at Frode with suspicion. “Are you suggesting that I’ve been too hasty in naming before?”
Frode gave a discrete smile; he didn’t speak outright, but his meaning was clear. Angel’s naming ability was hit or miss, often accompanied by a mysterious confidence. Instead of betting on whether Angel’s next chosen name would be good or bad, it would be better for everyone to discuss it seriously and decide on a universally recognized name.
Angel pursed his lips and muttered softly, “No appreciation for the finer things.”
After finishing reviewing the information on No. 7 Demonic Fiend, Angel put the documents aside: “Alright, that’s enough. Now it’s time to head to the simulation battlefield to meet this Demonic Fiend.”
After a while, standing inside a glass room shrouded in faint mist, Angel looked across at No. 7 Demonic Fiend.
At first glance, it was a giant oval flesh pancake. Its body was covered in tentacles, capable of making those with trypophobia scream, waving in the breeze. On its flesh pancake was a large mouth; previously, Angel mistook the hastily drawn mouth by Colares for a chrysanthemum face, when in fact they were not the same. There was nothing on its face, but when its mouth opened, it was filled with densely packed sharp teeth that rotated in a spiral, becoming more concentrated further inside, much like a blooming chrysanthemum.
“I take back what I said before, not cute at all,” Angel said in a low voice. It wasn’t just not cute; its mere appearance could cause mental trauma.
Angel couldn’t even imagine what would happen to a person if such a Demonic Fiend merged into a human body, especially when releasing the Demonic Fiend’s powers.
No. 7 Demonic Fiend was disgusting in appearance and strong in power. However, no matter how powerful, it couldn’t break through the protection of the green Magic Pattern, so Angel moved leisurely around it as if taking a stroll.
After a while, Angel exited the simulation battlefield.
“How was it?” Angel looked at Frode on the outside.
“I recorded the entire process with a Photostone.” Frode paused for a moment: “This No. 7 Demonic Fiend didn’t move at all from beginning to end, solely fighting with its tentacles. It’s a bit like a defensive counterattacker; it might be quite suitable for Sir Sabel.”
Angel: “Suitable for Sir Sabel? …I don’t know whether to say that’s unfortunate, or congratulations.”
Frode laughed: “Sir Sabel probably won’t mind the appearance, besides, when not released, they still retain a human form.”
After a pause, Frode continued: “Anyway, if it really is suitable for Sir Sabel, then we can finally record the transformation of a Demonic Fiend within a human body.”
Currently, they have no Demon Hunters.
When the first Demon Hunter emerges, research will broaden and deepen in scope and direction.
Moreover, once there are Demon Hunters, simulations like these can be handed over to them, freeing Angel from stepping into the fray, or alternatively Tullas, who is known for his speed.
“By the way, how is Labu’s assessment coming along?” Angel suddenly asked.
The birth of a Demon Hunter necessarily requires an inheritor of the Mist of Sin Authority, using the Power of Authority to suppress the Demonic Fiend, and Labu is currently the best candidate for inheritance.
“So far, his character and disposition are up to standard; it now depends on his will. I plan to take Labu to the Demonic Fiend laboratory to let him have close contact with a Demonic Fiend.”
Angel: “That’s good, but remember, we need to keep the truth beyond the city a secret until the Authority is granted.”
Frode nodded: “I will handle it according to the way of these researchers.”
Now, the researchers at the Demonic Fiend laboratory arrive here by airship. Since the airship does not have windows, they cannot see the outside scenery along the way. Although they are already thousands of miles away from Originheart City, they are still in the dark about the truth outside the city.
After discussing the Demonic Fiend matter, Frode suddenly said: “By the way, I have a batch of design drafts for New City, would you like to take a look, my lord?”
