Chapter 1052: Chapter 390 Animal World
Aleister originally didn’t plan to directly conflict with the other ascendants.
The main reason is that even if she killed the opponent, it actually wouldn’t stop their actions–this is the most important reason.
Although there seemed to be grudges among these people, leading to fights upon meeting… However, Aleister truly had no personal conflicts with them. She could very well sit back and watch the tigers fight, then calmly do her tasks elsewhere.
Even for Transcenders on the path of transcendence, killing should not become the goal. Rather, precisely because it is the path of transcendence, that killing becomes a means.
For Transcenders, everything is just a means.
Moreover, Aleister knew the background of “this painting” from the very beginning.
Because this is a fairy tale written by her grandfather Jacob in his youth–The World of the White Horse King!
Aleister had read that fairy tale.
In this fairy tale, it ambiguously recorded the secrets of the War of Heavens and the War of Lands. He merged two entirely different events together; thus, for those who only understood one of the events, this could not be considered some form of allegory.
–In the past, carnivorous animals led by the red Ursa Major and the Golden Lion ruled the world. They were not exactly allies or subordinates, but they split the entire savannah, preying on other herbivorous animals.
Ultimately, the herbivorous animals united. Under the leadership of the white horse, the green deer, and other leaders, they outwitted the strong and fierce carnivores, defeated the formidable Ursa Major, and became the new king, restoring peace to the savannah.
The stance of the Golden Lion was ambiguous.
Initially, it seemed he wanted to assist the Ursa Major, but then felt the animals were too angry; he also wanted to lead the herbivorous animals to defeat the Ursa Major, thereby becoming the only king of the savannah–a much better monarch than the Ursa Major.
However, the lion had an argument with the fairy tale’s protagonist, the white horse. The white horse thought the lion was too arrogant, and the lion thought the white horse was too foolish–he never believed from the beginning that the powerful Ursa Major could be defeated. Eventually, the two beasts parted ways unhappily.
Under the persuasion of the fox, the lion decided to show his tolerance and mercy to the outside world.
He established a sanctuary, gathering animals who were unwilling to engage in the fight to his side. He indeed also needed to eat meat… but as long as there were enough animals living there, he could just eat the animals that died of old age, which meant no more killing.
He indeed successfully gathered a bunch of animals who didn’t want to partake in the war.
But quietly, a mole disguised as a herbivore snuck in. He told the herbivores that he was a herbivore, and the carnivores that he was a carnivore, thus he became good friends with others, yet secretly ate the lion’s advisor, the fox. In the end, the angry lion discovered this and ate him too.
After the other side’s war ended, the lion planned to have a final battle with the white horse. However, at this moment, the mole burrowed out from the lion’s chest, and upon seeing the dead lion, his army instantly disintegrated and fled. The mole did not flee; he surrendered to the white horse, but the white horse, wary of the mole’s past actions, did not accept him.
Nevertheless, the white horse spared his life in consideration of the mole’s role in killing the lion, but forbade him from approaching his kingdom, expelling the mole.
The red Ursa Major represents the Giants and their god Supreme Heaven. The green deer represents the Elves and the Eternal Theocracy, while the white horse is the Knight King Arthur before being elevated by the Silver-Crowned Dragon.
The Golden Lion represents the Helasal Empire, the fox perhaps signifies the Demon Scholar, or possibly the Mage or Alchemist… and the mole undoubtedly represents the Son of the Moon.
Having a guide at hand and knowing who ultimately would prevail… Thus, Aleister went directly to find the White Horse King.
Although he is the embodiment of Arthur, he seemed not to recognize Aleister.
This means that this white horse is at least not the “original one”.
Nevertheless, he accepted Aleister’s help and openly embraced the so-called “evil wisdom” Aleister offered.
“As long as it can defeat the more evil Giant Bear King, any means are permissible.”
The white horse said so.
This is a very apparent style of the Transcenders. Perhaps for this reason, he accepted help from Aleister.
In the first round of choices, the question “What story is this fairy tale telling” yielded three answers.
“The War of Lands,” “The War of Heavens,” “Both.”
–Everyone is not foolish, therefore everyone chose “Both.”
Aleister was unsure how many people had entered the painting.
But everyone chose the same answer… which brought them all together upon landing.
This “baboon” posing as an Old Mage, though he hadn’t seen this fairytale… in the first round of choices, he sharply discerned the metaphor of the tale itself.
Therefore, the most valuable faction was undoubtedly represented by the “White Horse” — the Silver-Crowned Dragon.
This is the future Pillar God!
…So the baboon starts off by telling the White Horse that he must be the aide-de-camp. As a wise Sage, he would lead the chosen Monarch to victory, and clearly, no one else would suffice.
— What are you carrying, you bring, don’t you see me standing on the horse’s back!
You want to steal my contribution?
I came first!
Since Aleister was unsure if she could out argue a Mage skilled in philosophical debate, she decisively chose to act — physically annihilating the opponent’s thought.
The Night Fiend she summoned was also imbued with the artistic style of this world, turning into a cartoonish crayon style cute little crow, its attack effects also became extremely simplistic.
The baboon Mage, unfazed, directly lifted his Magic Wand and summoned a deep blue light gate, and then disappeared on the spot.
The White Horse felt somewhat helpless about the quarrel between the two “sages”: “I think there’s no need for you two to argue. If there are better suggestions, I can listen to them…”
“Not necessarily, Your Highness.”
Aleister asked sternly, “Do you think he holds a grudge against the Giant Bear? Or do you think he is here for victory, or perhaps for justice?”
“…Hmm. You are right.”
The White Horse pondered for a moment and then chose to believe Aleister who arrived earlier: “He only wants ‘the chosen Monarch,’ not to end the reign of the Giant Bear. Honestly, I really don’t care much about being the king… If the Golden Lion wants it, I could also let him be the new king.
“As a fellow carnivore, he is much more rational than the Giant Bear. If a carnivore must act as the Monarch, I would choose him.”
“I trust you, Your Highness.”
Aleister uttered in her delicate fox voice: “But only you can become the king. Lions are not trustworthy… If you don’t believe it, let’s go and see.”
On the other side, the Mage who had already planned to escape, directly teleported in front of the lion.
It was a massive sleeping lion. He was awakened by the baboon’s voice, his eyes opened a sliver.
“Just as you thought, Your Majesty.”
The baboon Mage respectfully said to the lion: “The White Horse wants to become the new king.”
“Hehe… He will fail.”
The voice of the Golden Lion was calm and deep: “He can be my general, my adopted son… my Queen Consort. But he cannot become the Monarch, this is for the good of everyone. Because no one will think, a herbivore could become a king. Even deer cannot achieve this– no one truly fears deer, because they do not ‘eat’ others.
“People fear the Bear King, yet remain loyal to him. Just because he is ferocious enough.
“What could the White Horse bring? He will only compete with others for grassland–eating the same food as his subjects, living in the same places, people just won’t fear him. How then could they obey him?”
“What you say is very true, Your Majesty.”
The baboon said respectfully.
Yet, he sighed internally, knowing he had to find another path to tread.
