Chapter 1089: Chapter 425 Star Antimony Infinitely Divisible
The gathering place of the Rose Cross Society has always been a secret, and not every meeting can summon everyone.
Their meeting mode is very special–when a high-ranking member decides to convene others, they first summon four people, calling them “My Cross Guardians,” and inform them of the meeting time and location, as well as the theme and importance of this meeting.
And each person who is summoned can summon up to four more people from the Society’s list, and those summoned can summon up to four more… and so on.
Eventually, some will be informed of the address by multiple people, and surely, someone will not be informed.
Such people are considered untrustworthy by the current attendees–or at least without anyone willing to vouch for them.
Conversely, anyone who can appear here means they are at least deemed trustworthy.
Yet, Master Walter’s words pointed out with stark clarity–that among them, there must be a traitor.
Walter’s sharp gaze swept around the room.
Here, there are only twelve people, with the lowest energy level being the Fourth Level. All who know the secret of the Ring of Ouroboros ceremony are here; all remaining Fifth Level Transcendents within the Rose Cross Society have gathered here.
A total of four people.
–Lady Marasia, Master Walter, Miss Sprengel, and Dr. Levique.
Elsewhere, four Fifth Level Transcendents would be enough to establish a nation. Even in this current age of Star Antimony, they already occupy more than half of the Fifth Level powerhouses!
With the deaths of Count Dorn, First Red Chancellor Pomponazzi, Valentine VII, and Lady Emma, and the two who left with the split of the Narcissus Duchy… plus the two Fifth Levels in the Spirit Summoning Tower who might leave Star Antimony at any time.
Star Antimony is left with only nine Fifth Level Transcendents.
One year ago, Star Antimony still had a total of seventeen Fifth Level powerhouses, the most among all human nations. But in just one year, this number has been halved.
Remove General Karl, who is no longer a Transcender, plus the two from the Royal Alchemy Association, one from the Red Fortress, and the unknown whereabouts of the Amber Master… even adding General Karl, and the newly promoted Minister Laro, the Demons’ Association can only muster a pathetic six Fifth Levels, now on par with the talent-depleted Avalon next door!
Most troubling is that neither their Black Chancellor nor Red Chancellor can protect the Kingdom anymore…
Clearly poised to rebuild the brilliant and glorious Helasal Empire… how did it all end up like this?
“Those who know about the Ring of Ouroboros ceremony are just us left,”
Looking at the heavy atmosphere among them, Master Walter again stressed: “The Holy Nation suddenly made such a big move, there must be a reason.
“The Holy Nation could never allow other places to have a Sixth-Level Transcendent; that would undoubtedly shake the world’s balance–and moreover, the current pope is human. Power is intoxicating, especially coming from someone who left Avalon. They must be coming for us. Their goal is to stop the Ring of Ouroboros ceremony.”
“What should we do then?”
Lady Marasia, an old lady with white curly hair like snow, said irritably: “Do we have to stop it? Anyway, the ceremony hasn’t officially started yet, we still have a chance to regret it.”
“–No longer.”
Miss Sprengel merely shook her head with a smile, denying: “The Ring of Ouroboros ceremony has been preparing for almost a year, the outer ceremony is already in operation, the inner ring ceremony will start in four days, and the summoning will be completed in a month. The foreign Transcendents began gathering since the end of last month–it’s very obvious, it can’t be stopped at this point.”
“Miss Sprengel is right, cough, cough, cough…”
Dr. Levique coughed: “Now… cough, it can’t be stopped. If we stop… we can’t explain to others either…”
He’s a sickly individual, sitting in a wheelchair, wearing glasses, with thighs even thinner than a normal person’s arm. His skin is loose, yet faint purple light always seems to seep through his eyes. A faint shadow coiled around him, making his presence seem much weaker than others.
In fact, Dr. Levique is also the most unsociable one in the Rose Cross, few people are willing to get close to him.
Because of the Fly Demon within him–that’s an evolved form of the Split Mouth Demon, the demon one becomes after committing the Great Sin of Gluttony.
The Split Mouth Demon has an insatiable hunger, but their split mouths cause food to continually leak away, making them among the few demons that continuously attack humans. If they “adapt” to this state, there’s a chance they could evolve into Upper-Level Demons of the Path of Adaptation–the Fly Demon.
Dr. Levique’s body continuously decays, with fly larvae parasitizing under his pale, loose skin. These flies, carrying deadly diseases, are one of his incarnations, and through the swarm, he can gather his consciousness. When he appears, he can silently steal the lives of others… even colleagues are rather wary of him, as no one knows if he’s already sown the seeds of disease.
If not for the fact that he had to be called this time… he probably wouldn’t be here either.
Compared to others, Dr. Levique appears more of a pure academic. He’s so frail, it’s surreal he’s even Fifth Level, seeming ready to die at any moment.
