Ch. 66: The Rainy Season

Alright! Let’s work hard today too with my Alchemy BOXーー!

Luke: “Or so I thought. What’s with all this rain today?” Eri: “It’s the rainy season, Sir Luke.”

Luke: “Oh wow. The rainy season, huh.”

Eri: “Yes……..it’s depressing when it rains so much.”

We watched the rain pour down through the swinging doorway of the inn.

Yeah, with this much rain, there’s no way to make any progress on the construction work.

Sia: “Uーk, what to do with work?”

Luke: “We can’t do any work outside while it rains like this. The ground will be slick, and with one slip, we can fall from high places, and that would be bad.”

Eri: “Then shall we do work that can be done indoors?”

Luke: “Hmmー work that can be done indoors, huh……what can we do….”

I can honestly do my Alchemy work anywhere, but I need materials.

And those materials are currently outside.

There is a workstation with a roof over it where all the materials are stored, but…..they’ll probably get wet.

Luke: “Once the rain stops, we’ll have to dry all the wooden supplies.”

Sia: “Uーk, going to be very busyー”

Luke: “Yeah, it will be～”

Now then, what kind of work can we do indoors.

To be honest, there is……..nothing we can do here!

Eri: “Is there no work to do?” Luke: “Yes, Princess. Even if I wanted to do something, all the materials are not at hand….”

Eri: “Oh～…..that’s true too.”

The Knights are all performing maintenance on their equipment.

Sia, the Princess, and I were all standing side by side looking out the door at the scene beyond.

[Unbehーー]

And the sounds of the Horned Sheepoos came from outside.

Their voices came nearer and nearer, and I believe it’s Boss’ and Hannah’s voice.

Boss: [Unbeh]

Luke: “Hey, what are you doing out in the rain?”

Sia: “Baーby!”

Luke: “Whー oh…..wait, is someone about to give birth?!”

Is it Carol?

Or is it Nina?

Hannah continued to speak to Sia.

And turning pale, Sia yelled, “Up-shide down!”

Luke: “Is the baby upside down?!”

[Unbeh～]

Hannah wrinkled her face as she affirmed my statement.

Then we need to hurry.

Luke : “I will go to Boss’ stable. Sia and Princess Aires can stayーー oh, you all plan to go…..”

The two put on coats as they came out from the back and also had one for me.

Luke: “You’re going to get wet.”

Eri: “I do not mind.”

Sia: “Save baーby!”

The Knights paled at the Princess’ words, but they soon gave up and let out a sigh.

If the baby is upside down, even after giving birth, we wouldn’t be able to return here immediately.

We’ll need a spare change of clothes.

Even if it’s June, we can’t just stay in drenched clothes for long periods of time. We’ll catch a cold.

We pack changes of clothes as well as carrots from the kitchen, and wrap the bread we were going to eat for lunch and place it inside the Item Box Bag.

Luke: “Then shall we get going?” Boss: [Unbehー]

Luke: “Is Carol’s baby doing okay?” [Unbehーー]

Carol just finished giving birth, and being spent, she laid on top of the hay.

At her stomach, there was a newly born Sheepoo nursing.

[Un…….unnnnnn….]

Luke: “Nina looks like she’s in pain.”

[Un…..unbeh……..eh…]

Nina looked at me with concern in her eyes.

And Nina was probably sayingーー

ーーHurry, hurry…..please pull it out…..

Or that’s what it sounded like to me.

Ugh.

Do I really have to stick my hands deep into someone else’s spouse once again?!

Eri: “SーSir Luke. What shall we do? Nina looks like she’s in so much pain.”

Luke: “……I’ll have to…..”

Eri: “You’ll have to..?” Luke: “I’ll have to do this! Are you ready, Nina?!”

Underneath Nina was lots of liquid where the water broke.

If I don’t hurry, the child inside might suffocate to death!

I place my left hand on Nina’s buttocks, and with my right handーーI dive right in!

Eri: “Eek?! WhーWhat are you doing, Sir Luke?!”

Sia: “Uーk will pull baーby. Pull it out. Be quiet!”

It was a rare sight to see Sia scolding the Princess.

But thanks to her, I can focus on the task at hand!

As I reached deeper inside as I shoved my arm further in, I felt something against my hand like I did with Hannah.

The skinny thing was a leg. If the baby is upside down, it’s probably the back leg.

But something felt wrong when I tried to pull it.

I grabbed both legs, but I felt another leg against my hand.

Boss: [Beh-behー]

Sia: “Huh? Twins?!”

Sia let out a yell of surprise at Boss’ words.

Huh……..twins?

There’s twins inside here?!
