Chapter 42: Grow up quickly (2)

“Okay!” Nodding her head excitedly, Peach held onto Shen Mochen’s arm with both hands as she obediently stood under the word ‘Tian Ya’.

“Ah, it’s another photo with Chenchen’s expressionless face,” grumbled He Yue as she looked at the screen of the digital camera with great dissatisfaction. On the screen, Peach was holding Shen Mochen’s arm with both hands, and resting her head on his shoulder as she smiled sweetly at the camera.

On the other hand, Shen Mochen stood with his back straight and his head held high. With a disdainful expression on his face, he did not even look at the camera.

“You’ll be the death of me!” bellowed He Yue as she glared fiercely at Shen Mochen and marched towards them.

Shen Mochen reached out to take the camera, and briefly glanced at the photograph, before placing the camera back into He Yue’s hands and muttering under his breath, “Who would want to smile like an idiot.”

Peach trailed after him, looking around, evidently not having heard his mumble.

When Peach’s father caught her looking around, he patted her head and asked smilingly, “Baby, what are you looking at?”

“Dad, I want to drink that too!” shouted Peach as she pointed to a stall not far from them.

Peach’s father looked over in the direction that Peach was pointing and saw that it was a stall that was selling coconut juice. The coconut husk was removed on the spot, and a straw was stuck in so that the juice could be drunk directly from the coconut.

“Chenchen, bring Peach over to buy!” He Yue commanded, giving Shen Mochen a push, before pulling Peach’s mother towards a shelter not far away from them. She then told them, “We’ll wait for you there.”

“Okay!” Peach quickly grabbed Shen Mochen’s arm and pulled him towards the stall.

After paying for the coconut, Peach held the big coconut contentedly and drank the sweet coconut juice.

Shen Mochen glanced at her but said nothing.

“Husband, don’t you want to drink this?” Peach asked whilst looking at him questioningly as he had only bought one for her.

“It doesn’t look good.” Shen Mochen frowned as he glanced at the dark-coloured coconut.

“Not at all. It’s sweet and fragrant!” Holding the large coconut in her hands, she placed the straw at Shen Mochen’s mouth. Looking at him enthusiastically, she coaxed him with a smile, “Come on, try it.”

“I don’t want to,” refused Shen Mochen as he turned his head to the other side.

Peach carried the coconut and walked around to the other side, looking at him earnestly as she said, “It’s really delicious! Come on, Husband, try it!”

Fine, it was difficult to disregard someone’s kindness.

Unwillingly, Shen Mochen bowed his head and took a small sip using the straw.

In actuality, there was no special taste. After all, it was natural coconut juice without sugar and flavor. Hence, the taste was slightly bland.

“How is it? It’s not bad, right?” Peach asked as she continued grinning.

“Umm.” Shen Mochen nodded reluctantly.

“Let’s go over to where Godmother and Godfather are.” Peach pointed at the group of adults who were resting in the gazebo not far away. She then scampered over to them.

Watching as she hurriedly rushed past him, Shen Mochen opened his mouth to remind her, “Run slowly…” However, at that very moment, he heard a plop, and saw Peach falling head first onto the sand.

Shen Mochen looked at the sky speechlessly. At this moment, he really wanted to pretend that he did not know Peach.

But the moment he went up to Peach and saw her, he felt a sense of helplessness. Even when she fell, she had continued holding the coconut tightly in her arms.

“Get up,” Shen Mochen ordered brusquely.

“Oh!” Peach was about to stand up, but she felt her knees go weak and she almost fell down again.
