Chapter 33: Do You Really Not Mind At All?

Ye Xingbei’s heart didn’t feel at ease either.

She let Gu Junzhu accompany her back to her parental home today because she had initially wanted to properly settle her scores with the Jiang family.

But because of Xiao Shu’s family background, her heart felt suffocated so she lost interest in doing anything.

She temporarily let that shameless Jiang family off.

Sitting in the car, she didn’t say a word and hung her head in low spirits.

Gu Junzhu tilted his head to watch her with interest.

Since he thought about it, he proceeded to do just that. Ye Xingbei warded off his hand and rolled her eyes at him, “I am quite happy to see them behave submissively but I feel sorry for Xiao Shu… It’s all Bai Mengluan’s fault but Xiao Shu has to bear the consequences! It’s too much!”

“Think of the silver-lining.” Gu Junzhu’s body leaned backwards and his legs folded gracefully as he assumed a graceful and languid pose. “As long as you and I pretend to be a couple, Xiao Shu will be our legitimate son. Henceforth, we will give him the best life possible so from today onwards, he will be the most fortunate child on earth!”

Ye Xingbei slanted her head to look at him with a somewhat uncertain gaze, “You mean, I should tell Xiao Shu that I’m his biological mother and you’re his biological father?”

Gu Junzhu raised his brow, “Haven’t you always been telling Xiao Shumiao that you’re his biological mother?”

Ye Xingbei nodded silently.

Back then, she had been driven out of the house by the Jiang family, all alone.

Although it was difficult for a 16-year-old Ye Xingbei to raise a child, luckily, she always had a child to accompany her so she didn’t feel like she had been abandoned by the whole world.

A child without a father or a mother was pitiful… just like her.

After Xiao Shu grew a bit older and saw that other children had parents but he only had a mother and no father, he would ask her why all the other children had fathers but he didn’t have any.

She would always lie and say that his father was an impressive person who was executing secret missions for the country.

Only when his mission had ended successfully would his father be able to come back and reunite with them.

Since children from single-parent households were common overseas and Xiao Shu had her and his uncles, he easily accepted her lie.

But now they were back in their home country.

The divorce rates within the country were much lower than abroad.

Most children had a father and a mother while children from divorced households were few and far between.

Xiao Shu was growing up day by day. How much longer could she maintain her lie?

She had been worrying about it when she heard Gu Junzhu speak beside her ear, “Since you’ve lied once, why not lie a second time? You’ve already tricked Xiao Shumiao into believing that you’re his biological mother, so why don’t you tell him that I’m his biological father? In future, the three of us will live our days in harmony. Isn’t this great?”

“…” Ye Xingbei was somewhat speechless, “Don’t you feel that’s too trifling a matter? We are already a married couple by law now. If you continue to declare that Xiao Shu is your biological son, he will possess your rights to the inheritance! Do you really not mind at all?”
