Chapter 42: Getting Along with Him Alone

Yan Xiruo was thrown roughly onto the sofa by Ye Juemo. She looked at his tightly-clenched jaw and at his sharp facial features and felt apprehensive in her heart.

Fearing that he would do something violent to her, she stood up from the sofa in panic. She dared not look at him again and ran toward the door as if trying to escape.

She ran too quickly and her knee accidentally knocked into the coffee table.

The pain overwhelmed Yan Xiruo. It hurt so badly that she sucked in a breath of cold air. Her face turned pale and she bent down. She instinctively pressed on the knee, which was giving off dull pain.

Ye Juemo stood behind Yan Xiruo, his sword-like eyebrows frowning slightly. His thin lips, which had formed a straight and cold line, curved up with unclear meaning. “Why didn’t you continue to run?”

Yan Xiruo gritted her teeth and turned back. Looking at the man under the dim light, she let out a low roar in embarrassment and anger with her eyes red. “Don’t worry. I won’t stay with someone whom I hate!”

Actually, she didn’t have much resentment toward this man who had ruined her innocence. It was just that she didn’t like his words of mockery and sarcasm. If he hadn’t dragged her in here, how would she have hit her knee?

“I’m detestable?” Ye Juemo’s deep and cold eyes squinted. His cold face looked more indifferent.

This man’s aura was too cold and powerful. Yan Xiruo couldn’t help but shiver. She knew that if she was smart enough, she wouldn’t continue to provoke him.
