Chapter 50: Tit-for-Tat

Yan Xiruo turned and saw Lili, who was wearing a long lake-green dress and shaking her hips as she walked toward her. She frowned.

A few women who were dressed similarly to Lili followed behind her. They looked at Yan Xiruo with contempt and disdain.

Which woman who attended the prestigious sky cruise event wasn’t dressed radiantly? Only Yan Xiruo was wearing a man’s shirt and a pair of ordinary-looking jeans. She couldn’t even compare to a waiter on the cruise at all.

Lu Jingchen simply had too many lovers. Yan Xiruo couldn’t remember all of their faces. However, she had a deep impression of Lili. After all, she had given her two tight slaps back then.

“Tsk, Mrs. Lu, why are you dressed in such a manner? You’re Mrs. Lu, after all. Don’t you even have the money to buy a gown?” Lili sized Yan Xiruo up and didn’t have any words of flattery for her. Although she had a good-looking face, she wasn’t feminine at all.

Yan Xiruo didn’t know where Lili got her sense of superiority from. She was just a social escort who was always circling around men. How was she qualified to say such words of mockery and sarcasm to her?

She looked straight into Lili’s eyes, which didn’t bear any good intentions. Yan Xiruo’s face turned slightly cold. It was impossible for her to greet Lu Jingchen’s lover with a smiling face. “What business is it of yours if I can afford a gown or not? Rather than wasting time on me, why don’t you turn some of your effort into fishing for a rich second-generation heir who can marry you?”

Lili had thought that a newly-wed woman whose husband was out making merry would just cry all day and grumble against heaven, blaming other people. She should feel sad and helpless, especially when her husband’s mistress was challenging her. She didn’t expect Yan Xiruo’s gaze to be so cold and arrogant, nor for her words to be so sharp.

She even said that she was a social escort and secretly mocked her for not being able to marry into the rich, just like her!

Lili’s face alternated between green and white. She clenched her hands into fists and strode toward Yan Xiruo. Lili was tall and wearing seven-inch high heels, thus being half a head taller than Yan Xiruo. She looked at her with disdain and gritted her teeth. “Mrs. Lu, I heard that you’re just a Mrs. Lu-in-name.” As she said this, she leaned into Yan Xiruo’s ear and smiled charmingly. “Young Lu doesn’t like you at all!”

When she heard this, Yan Xiruo’s heart tightened.

It wasn’t possible for her heart not to ache when hearing Lu Jingchen’s lover saying those words in front of her.

She took a deep breath and looked at the smug Lili. She quickly recovered her calmness and indifference, and her lips formed an almighty and superior arc. “So what if he doesn’t like me? Can you make him change my name on the marriage certificate to yours? You’re just a toy!” After saying this, she copied Lili’s gesture and leaned into her ear. In a voice that only the two of them could hear, she said, “Do you know what you are in my heart? You’re at best…”

Lili’s face immediately turned red. The hands by her side tightened then loosened, loosened then tightened.
