Chapter 153: Zombies Are Not Moving

The pilot had no intention of landing the helicopter. He just kept circling in the sky. 

Another man on the helicopter slid down a ladder. After checking everything, he instructed Li Ran, “You have one day to complete the mission. We will come and pick you up tomorrow around this time. Send a signal if you’re at a different location. It’s the only way to communicate.”

Then, the man handed Li Ran a firework and lighter.

Li Ran nodded. 

“We will make sure to keep an eye out, so there’s nothing to fret.”

Everything seemed to be in order.

However, when the man glanced at Li Ran’s stomach, he hesitated for a moment before asking awkwardly, “Are you pregnant?”

“Yes.”

The man retracted the ladder and said, “There’s no need for the ladder. We’ll just land as low as possible for you to get off.”

“What if she falls…” 

Before the pilot could finish his sentence, the man changed the topic. 

“If you’re qualified for a hidden mission, then you’re definitely not an ordinary person. There’s nothing to worry about.”

The helicopter slowly descended. 

Li Ran sighed and got off. 

Although the man had said not to worry, his eyes were glued to Li Ran. He watched as she walked away.

It was the first time that he had seen a woman taking up a solo mission. 

The man really hoped that Li Ran would be able to return safe and sound.

Li Ran took a deep breath and composed herself. She had been holding the iron ball in her hand all this while. If anything unexpected happened, she could immediately escape into the mysterious space. Then, she would come out again after making sufficient preparations.

Fortunately, everything went smoothly so far.

Li Ran looked around the place. There really was only a farmhouse and some pig pens. 

The other side of the farm was surrounded by a wall, which kept a bunch of zombies away. They attempted to get in but failed.

Li Ran did not understand why there were only zombies outside the farm. 

When she was on the helicopter, she could not find a single human being.

Things were definitely more complicated than they looked.

Li Ran counted that there were ten pig pens in total. Three of them had pig carcasses. 

When she took a closer look, she noticed that there was dried up blood on the pig’s nose. Other than that, there were no other injuries on its body.

Li Ran could enter the farmhouse through the front door. 

Since the farmhouse was rather big, Li Ran was unsure if it had a second floor.

Nonetheless, the people waiting for her help were on the first floor.

Li Ran walked towards the big iron door. Since it was not locked, she just pushed it open. The door made a creaking sound. 

It was really dark inside and Li Ran could not see clearly.

Not a single sound could be heard either.

Li Ran stood outside for a while. She opened the door a little more with her foot.

Thanks to the sunlight, Li Ran was able to get a better look. 

To her surprise, there was a row of zombies inside. They did not move, but Li Ran quickly retreated.

The sight made her shiver.

Li Ran held her breath. She remained silent for about three seconds.

The zombies were really not moving at all. They seemed to be different in comparison to regular zombies. Furthermore, they were rather clean. Other than their lifeless eyes and the bite wounds on their necks, they looked just like normal human beings. Even their bodies were not pale.

However, Li Ran dared not get too close. She was unsure what would happen and acting rashly would be bad. 

Li Ran glanced inside again. 

The zombies were blocking a door.

‘Why?’

She waved her hand in front of them.

It seemed that the zombies really did not notice her at all..
