Chapter 1714: Chapter 521: Susu Garcia’s Farewell
The ancient steam train that thundered from the Underworld was none other than the Neon Train, guarded by the White Family for generations.
Last time Leonard Churchill and Sophia Jones visited the White Family headquarters in the City of Thieves, they discovered Tracy Garcia imprisoned on the train.
After Leonard Churchill and his companions disembarked, the deposed High Priest Orlan used Sophia Jones’s authority to travel to the Underworld.
Leonard Churchill had never imagined that a chance encounter from the past would now become a lifeline.
The Neon Train before him was like a small boat in a vast sea, its bearings only ascertained because of the signal Noah Wright had sent out, and then it made its way over.
“Whoo-whoo-whoo…”
The prolonged whistle of the train sounded surprisingly pleasant at this moment.
Like a train pulling into a station, it gradually came to a stop.
Having ridden on this ghostly train before, Leonard Churchill and Sophia Jones maintained a calm demeanor as usual.
However, Bonnie and the other Revolutionary Army cadres gaped in amazement at the Steam Car appearing in the Netherworld Channel: A train in this godforsaken place?
This was no ordinary train.
Leonard Churchill could now roughly guess that this steam train was actually a physical manifestation of the mysterious Black Iron coffin inside the carriage.
It likely took on whatever form people imagined it to be.
Just as humanity’s perception of the world is never the world in its original state, but rather a world constructed by their own cognition.
The train came to a halt, the doors opened, and a ghostly train conductor, shrouded in black mist, stood by the doors as if waiting for passengers to board.
This conductor was like the Grim Reaper beckoning souls to the Underworld, simply standing there emitted a spine-chilling sense of terror.
Bonnie and the others looked at each other, but Sophia Jones took the lead, heading forward.
She took out the special 002 ticket reserved for the White Family head and successfully had it checked.
Then, after whispering a few words to the conductor, she turned back to the others, signaling that they could board.
Noah Wright, eyes squinted, walked over excitedly saying, “Thanks, Miss Jones. I’ve never ridden the legendary Neon Train before…”
Legend has it that this train could nourish the divine soul, but since it belonged exclusively to the White Family, outsiders never had the chance to try it.
Seeing that the mischievous conductor did not stop Mushroomhead, Bonnie and the others followed suit.
Leonard Churchill prepared to board with the Black Iron coffin, initially worried that the coffin was too big to fit, but then found the space on the train magically accommodating.
Stepping onto the carriage’s platform, Leonard Churchill didn’t forget to thank the conductor in Ancient Taron Language: “Thank you.”
The conductor bowed slightly in response.
….
“Is this the legendary ghost train? Tsk tsk, this trip to the Southern Continent sure is eye-opening…”
“Ouch, did you guys notice, this train really can nourish Mental Power~”
“Indeed it can.”
“…”
Bonnie and the cadre had just boarded the train and immediately felt the Neon Train’s miraculous effect of nourishing the soul, whispering excitedly among themselves.
But for Leonard Churchill and Sophia Jones, this was all too familiar.
Perhaps it was because they had been to the Underworld that the nourishing effect was much stronger than last time.
The last time they boarded the train, the carriage was packed with Immortal Aegis Animals.
But this time it was an empty carriage.
There was only one cloaked figure in the carriage.
Leonard Churchill, Sophia Jones, and Noah Wright all knew who this person was.
Noah Wright spoke first, lightly laughing: “Thanks for helping us, senior.”
Leonard Churchill sensed the familiar aura and greeted as if seeing a senior family member: “Auntie Garcia.”
Sophia Jones had seen her before and nodded in acknowledgment.
The Revolutionary Army cadres also showed grateful expressions on their faces.
Although they had never met Susu Garcia, they had all heard of the former High Priest Orlan, and both her strength and the life-saving grace she provided in the present warranted respect.
At this moment, the cloaked figure sitting down finally spoke: “Hmm. It’s been a long time.”
Her tone was as gentle as ever, but for some reason Leonard Churchill detected a hint of frailty and age in her voice.
Susu Garcia looked at everyone’s reserved behavior and chuckled: “Please, take a seat, don’t be so formal.”
She stayed seated while speaking and seemed to realize that it might be slightly impolite, quickly adding: “Sorry, I’m not feeling well, don’t mind me.”
Given Leonard Churchill’s special relationship with Tracy Garcia, he naturally felt no estrangement towards “Auntie Garcia.”
Hearing this, he set down the coffin and walked over to ask, “Auntie Garcia, are you injured?”
“It’s not an injury…”
Susu Garcia shook her head, wanting to explain but hesitated for a moment, seemingly finding it troublesome.
After a thought, she removed the cloak on her head, revealing an aging face. A head of white hair, skin with almost no flesh beneath, dry and tightly clinging to the bones, covered in wrinkled indents like the bark of a tree. The eyes were deeply sunken into the sockets, the gaze cloudy and dull. Even though she maintained a certain wisdom and elegance that seemed to see through all things worldly, the radiance of old was lost.
A scent like that of a graveyard also emanated from her, decaying and weak.
“Aunt Jones, you…”
Leonard Churchill looked at the aging face before him, recognizing that it was Susu Garcia, yet shocked beyond measure.
How had the once charming and graceful lady changed so much?
Sophia Jones and Noah Wright looked on, their brows slightly furrowed.
They couldn’t figure out what had happened to the senior to cause such transformation.
After all, once upon a time in the East Wilderness, Barre Shepherd might have been called the first in combat power, but when it came to magical techniques, even Noah Wright admitted no one surpassed her.
