Summary
You’re Reading “I Really Don’t Want to Be the Ruler of the Abyss!” on WuxiaWorld.Site
After transmigrating to a world of swords and magic, Rolin studied magic in the human race’s capital city. But just then, his system awakened and gave him the position of the Ruler of the Abyss. Rolin was absolutely stunned. I’m just an ordinary guy who didn’t even know any magic, you want me to go be the Ruler of the Abyss? Please cut the jokes. Let’s not talk about whether he had the capability to take on this position, even if he had it, he would definitely not go to the dark abyss. After all, since the ancient era, all darkness had met its demise before the light. Rolin didn’t want to be the target of elimination for countless human heroes in the future. On the contrary, he preferred the side of the light, after all this was the place that had living conditions more suitable for humans. As for the position of the Ruler of the Abyss, no one could expose him here anyway. Since that was the case, there were even more reasons to stay in the capital. There was a famous quote that says: The most dangerous place is the safest! So, mixing in with the humans was the only way to evade that tragic destiny in the future. But when Rolin came to the Magic Academy, he unexpectedly discovered that he had ultra-strong learning abilities, he was able to deduce an augmented version of any magic and unleash greater forces of destruction. As such, the Human Empire regarded him as the greatest magic prodigy, and gave him the best treatment possible, nurturing him all the way to become the strongest mage in the entire land. But the only request that the human empire had for him was — to eliminate the menacing Ruler of the Abyss! At this moment, Rolin sank into silence.
Started interesting with a dark world and a somewhat interesting Mc then BAM elf princess who’s in love with him and another girl who’s dependent on him
Basic Story: The start of the story was cool; I was into it for a fair bit, but sadly it devolved into a weirdly paced story. Everything was happening pretty fast, and the MC’s growth felt weird. Not only that, but everything was working out for the MC with little to no work for it.
Relationships: At the start of the story, I was impressed with the fact that the Story Teller didn’t go on and on about women and had some strong male characters that felt like they had a story behind them, yet the MC’s father figure poofs and the story turns into Women, Women, Women everywhere! The story has a rudimentary harem set up with every woman the MC meets finding him just so handsome oh gosh! I also find the story a bit lowbrow in its handling of the female characters in this world. How can the slums be filled with only men? Like I get, rape would be a thing in such places, but women can still function in such areas. Hell, if you look at history, women in the past thrived in places with lax laws and cultural trappings. The wild west was built off of Saloons and brothels.
MC: The dude is basic, he does the bare bones of decent things, and women bend backwards to fall for such a nice respectable guy. As of Chapter 22, he found a new gal to be in his harem, and I could not bother anymore. The guy says one or two basic lines and gets the girls. He has no character; he has no hobbies, likes or dislikes; he is as blank a character as Bella Swan.
